Announcement - ***READ THIS***
This is a new forum which will be a 'work in progress'.
What this means is that the style, the posts and the format of this forum will be subject to change. Your post may be changed, deleted, moved or modified if it is not Reference Material or if it is a post or thread better fitted in another Forum board. Members may start a new thread, and are allowed to participate by posting. The first post started in each thread is intended to become the 'super post' and will be updated from members posts within the thread. Members contributions will be acknowledged in the 'reason for edit' section of the super post. Some kind of indexing system will need to be worked out. As an opening suggestion there will be one thread: (a) for each current model (e.g 114270 Explorer); (b) for each model dealing with previous (non current models) (e.g. 14270, 1016 and other vintage Explorers). Ultimately the aim is to provide a 'one stop shop' for each model where one can have at their fingertips a ready reference with illustrations and information. This aim cannot be achieved overnight, and so the contributions of the members will make this a living, breathing reference to provide the best reference of Rolex information in the world!!!!!!!!! This section is not intended for jokes, chit-chat, lighthearted banter etc. so if you engage in that activity on this sub-forum then don't be surprised of your post vanishes without any explanation being given. The section will be more of a technical resource, who know maybe Rolex itself might one day find it useful. Any suggestions about the format and running of this sub-forum are welcome to be made below in this thread

Will there be a thread for the Oyster Perpetual Zephyr? I'm intersted in learning more about this classic understated design.
I have a 1008 circa 1962. |

I am surprised the day-date, the classical Rolex for the last 25 years, is not represented (the older one, not the Mk II). Is there no-pone with any knowledge of the day-date?

Any chance of opening this section up to the members?
I was interested in posting some threads that I thought belonged on the forums for reference, IE: serial number reference guide and other similar articles. Also, I searched the forum looking for a tutorial on how to remove the crown, the movement and the dial...I couldn't find anything however I figured it out myself and I took lots of photos. I wanted to write a tutorial on how I did it for others, but the lock on the forum prevented it. It is not that hard to moderate and delete posts you don't approve of so there is no reason the forum should be locked up. Just my 2 cents. Thanks. |

It would be nice to have this as a resource guide for us in spotting fakes as well. If pictures of Rolex Watches from the past years to current would be posted here it would be useful in helping to check authenticity of watches being sold on E-Bay, Craigslist, and any other sales formats.

We also need a place to find trustworthy sellers buyers, even though most of us know.
This would help New and old members. Thanx. |

In regard to the fake spotting. I think Terry may be right. Any chance of a short photo album, showing genuine article, and some fake versions, poss highlighting areas you can tell for muppets like me who dont know their stuff enough!

I have an Oyster bracelet that came on my 16760 GMT Master II but there are no markings. Did that model ever come without markings on the bracelet? Is it safe to assume that it is aftermartket? I also have a Jubilee dated `1983 in great condition, which corresponds to the number and model of the watch
