Need some Red Advice please

Hey Guys

I know I don't post here often but I can sure use some advice. I have the opportunity of completing a purchase on the Red Sub below. Normally I'm decent at making a decision .....But this one is a bit rough here is why.

1. Dealer told me hands where not corroded
2. Dealer told me dial was perfect ( check out the bubbling)
3. Crown looks a bit off to me
4. One of the tritium markers is bubbling
5. I can barely make out the serial number
6. This just tweaked me..... Bracelet came installed backwards :/

Basically my questions are....

1. Is this watch worth between 9-10 K ?
2. Should I keep it, and where it ?
3. Anything you can do to help me, I'm willing to listen :)

Thanks guys!!!!!

I like the insert but not much else !

You can get a LOT better for that money. I would keep looking.

I like the watch but....
Cons.
Dial is bubbling which could cause major issues in the future.
If the serial number is worn off it will be very harder to re sell if u need to.
Hands ARE coroded but that is common and not a deal breaker.

Pros.
Sweet gunmetal insert
Thick case with square crown guards
Nice patina.

Overall i would pass because of the dial. Too much risk involved.I would also worry about the dealer. He is sadly mistaking or blind if he thinks the dial is perfect. goodluck with your decision. If you already purchased it i would return it. 9k to 10k is way too much in that condition.

Does this dealer not have a return policy?

They Do, Just bums me out that I have to return it and possibly be labeled as "a returner" even though this watch was mis-represented to me.

Seriously....... Thanks for the help

So you have already bought it?

I'd either not buy it, or return it if I had

Difficult. "They" say app 60% of the value of a vintage piece is with the dial, and I am not too thrilled about this one. Find the value of a good looking one with one of the TRF recommended dealers, no box&papers (the recommended dealer list is a sticky to the TRF vintage rolex category) and deduct 30 percent. Some might say a bit less, some a bit more.

dont worry about being labeled a "Returner" if thats even a term lol

when the dealer misrepresented his watch that more then enough grounds for a return.

im curious though. did u not see the bubbles in the dial or the hands when you seen it or did u buy it online?

I would return it quickly. Every person you ask will have a different take on the value of the watch.

Get this watch returned without a second delay. I can't see anything good about it and a Red Sub with dial issues is not worth touching.

Excellent / outstanding examples are available and you'll never be happy with this one as it has lots of issues.

Def send back! Orange tint, dial, hands, all look nasty. See 1680s reds for sale here -- much better value and safe, honest sellers. Good luck.

Hank, send it back. It has way too much going on that doesn't speak value for price.

Guys

Thanks for the advice. Sorry it took me so long to respond to this thread but I tried to memory wipe myself of this watch up until Springer reminded me of this ;)

The dealer I got it from is Watchuwant.com In all fairness, I can't say a bad thing about them as a company. Watchuwant.com sent me a return label, and refunded my money instantly after they received it.

I think as a new rule of thumb, I am only spending my money with here when it comes to Vintage Rolex's.

But seriously......Thanks again for all the advice!

Good job returning the watch; there are great sellers here with better watches for sure.

This one is from Jacek at HQ Milton; no way I'm returning this one !!

I wouldn't keep this one. Not worth having in your collection, condition is sub par to say the very least.
