Is it possible to get an RSC to keep the corroded hands, but still perform a standard service? If so, how much damage on the hands has been acceptable?
Take it to the RSC in the Shreve Bldg in SF. They can walk you through it all, and that particular center may be more willing to allow you to keep items.

I agree w. David (DSJ). Take it to the RSC in San Francisco. Go straight to the 7th floor in the Shreve building and not to Shreve. There are a lot of watchmakers in the same building, but you want to make sure you see the Rolex Service Center. Ask for Giovanni. He can walk you through what he suggests you do with the watch and will not do anything to the watch that you don't agree to. He's great w. watches and his daily wearer is a GMT also!

By the way. Any chance you can share with us which store in Carmel you found this? I think I need to stop by next time a few of the "vintage" stores when I'm down in the Monterey area. Heard there are a lot of great vintage Rolexes to be found there.

I bought the watch from Lussori in Carmel-by-the-Sea. I lucked upon this watch sifting through google. As of today, my watch is still listed in the pre-owned section of their website. They should take it off or they'll feel the barrage of members asking about this unit. This one was priced within budget too.

There maybe more vintage watches out there. Lussori has a really glamorous showroom and a huge selection of high end manufacturers to boot.

Thanks for the info about SF RSC, guys. I'll have to go see if they'll allow me to keep the patina'd hands.
