Melancholy...or last night with an old friend! Need Dr Tom!
OK,so it's only a car.
Tomorrow,I trade in my 997 Turbo. I've driven my dream for 3 years. There is no substitute. It is for the greater good.(No Porsche in my immediate future)! Kid needs a car. I need a car. Family needs... Another reveal in a few weeks. Sad to see her go. I may need a doctor. Dr Tom,too bad you aren't a psychiatrist! I may need help! |

I know the feeling! My 991 just came off lease April 1st and I've been itching ever since. Ordered something else but it won't be here until June
I recall your handle from either rennlist or 6speed back when I was shopping my car! That ones a real beauty! I'm sure you have lots of memories! |

Keep the Porsche, let your kid buy their own car. Got my license at 17. Worked hard to save up. I bought my first car at 18, insured it, maintained it myself.

Keep the car. It will provide tangible inspiration for your offspring to do well and achieve goals.

Your Porsche keychain and a tank of fuel cost more than my first car did.
I get it though. We have a 2002 330 convertible that just went over 20k on the odometer and a kid that is turning 14. Have a feeling that we will be in this situation soon with that car. I am trying to convince my wife to just keep it and let the kids drive it but in the Midwest it probably is not practical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you all for your replies.
Like most of you,I've worked very hard(since age 12). My daughter does as well. I think it is crucial for kids to do so. I drove my dream for 3 years and had a Carrera S before the Turbo. Trading down for a few years. If the weather holds out for a week or two,I'll have pics of what the family received due to my trade in. I'll have new car pics as soon as she is clean. Drove her home today for 2 1/2 hours in the pouring rain! |

Avoid regrets and find a way to keep it. You will be resentful if you sell to buy your kid a car and he /she doesn't take care of it etc. It's rare to know for sure that it's your dream car WHILE you still have it so let that wisdom prevail so you can keep it. there are car freaks just as there are watch freaks..it's not "just a car " to you If you get another one years from now it'll be dearer too no doubt..Good luck with your decision. I know how you feel.
