Tiffany branding effect on price?
My mom left me her 1988 29mm to sell and put the cash towards a man's model. All things being equal does "Tiffany" branding on a dial affect price?
thanks, Rob |

Positively. If it's a real Tiffany dial than you can get a lot more for the watch.

Tiffany branding effect on price?
Ladies watches don't do too terribly well in the secondary market...as a general rule. Not nearly as much demand as for men's watches.
If you have full provenance, you may get more interest. Tiffany dials can be suspect otherwise. I'm not saying there is anything off about your Mothers watch, but it's possible potential buyers will want proof it was really purchased at Tiffany. |

Definitely positive, but from what I understand (depending on the model) you almost always need the original paperwork to prove the dial authenticity.

28mm ladies watches may not bring much money. For me I would not buy a watch with 'Tiffany' on the dial and never really understood the perceived value. Tiffany didn't design the dial, they just put their name on it. Not a major artistic achievement like a Tiffany lamp or custom jewelry. Thankfully all AD don't do this. "Oh is that a Ben Bridge Rolex. Nice"
I sold a late 80's TT ladies Datejust and got about $2,900. If the watch has sentimental values I'd keep it and save a little more for my own watch. |

I agree with that. Also not many women would be keen on wearing a watch that's been worn by another woman in my experience. |

On the sports models with 100% provenance would show a premium price over a un-branded model same age and condition. But with any of the ladies watches its doubtful if it will have the same premium price as a gents sports. Some might pay a slight premium, but its mainly down to condition of most all ladies watches, as in the second hand market they dont hold there prices like the gents watches.

Most anything Tiffany branded commands a premium. Just my opinion, but I say give it to your wife or daughter to wear (if married). It would have more meaning than going to a store and buying something new.

Keep your mums watch. I guarantee that the next day you will deeply regret off loading it. Keep it in the family and "loan" it to somebody close to you. Regards. |

Worst case I'd say it can't lower the value. Might bring more $.

Exactly, you would need to have proof the dial is original to the watch through paperwork to really claim a higher value for it.

Without tiffany receipt it means very little. I would do all I could to hang on to it.

Thanks for all the replies, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I must not have hit the notifications alert.
My mom bought it pre-owned from a very reputable retail dealer here in NY. I contacted Tiffany but they could not verify it from the serial number. I'll hang on to it though as suggested, someday there may be a wife, too old for daughters.... |

100% don't sell that watch! Keep it for someone special in your life. You will regret selling it. Dial looks off but I'm not an expert.

Many years ago I bought my wife an 18K datejust at Tiffany's New York Store.
The dial was NOT marked Tiffany & Co. |

There are some folks who look for these watches and will pay a bit extra just because it has it.
This one looks well done and is very likely authentic, but who knows ?? There is not enough market for Ladies TT Datejusts for it to make much difference in value.

Mom saved up for it for a few years, bought it and then wore it to work everyday as a grammer school teacher for the last 15 years of her career. Never had it serviced but cleaned once I think. It needed a good cleaning when I got it, I did the case by hand and the bracelet in an ultrasonic, polished the crystal best I could. Still about +- 5 spd.
