Yes, Mariatinto is good. It has all those blends almost similar to Chateauneuf du pape but just a bit more heavier but has a nice slightly dark fruity taste, that's why it went so very well with appetizers we had. I think I mentioned that it was so good while we eat the appetizers. Also I think you brought that to Capitol Grill that one night too ?

TRF's 1st Branded Wine !! Took a while to read the instructions but we went at it. Should turn out just like a flavor of being grown in the AVA Howell Mountain Area of Napa, bumped right next to Robert Foley Vineyards, so expect a little Taste of Foley in the mix. ( swiped some raisins ) Corks ! Who needs Corks ! We bypassed this part and went straight to straws !
And that's how you make Hilbilly Backwood Briar Vino ! ![]() ![]() Please leave constructive criticism below ! ![]() Full link below ![]() https://youtu.be/n7tauROWh0Y

I've pulled these two for dinner this evening with great friends - our last night in Highlands --
The Quintessa is my friends all time favorite -- and the Bond is in my top 10...should be tasty. Cheers all!! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just wanted to share a little bit about this wine with everyone -- if you're either new to French wines -- or just trying to find a first growth that holds up phenomenally for the $$ I DEFINITELY recommend trying the Gruaud La Rose --
The last two I've opened were an '85 and and '86 and they both were spectacular. Don't decant though (too much risk of it falling apart- as in any old Bordeaux) just open about an hour / hour and a half before drinking and enjoy!!! Cheers!! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice! But so damn young to be pouring it right now. I'm not touching my '12 Estates for at least 15 years. Doubt I'll open the magnums for 20 years.

Went with a nice Burgundy tonight. Figured it would go well with watching Bottle Shock!! (One of my favorite movies!!)
Which made me slightly consider opening up the second --- bottle (instead of the Burgundy---) but I changed my mind and put it back on the cellar!!! Cheers all!! ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have this Marvel industries dual temperature unit. Top has beer/water and bottom (which is warmer) has the wine. We just bought this house a few months ago and it came with it. So far so good ![]() ![]() ![]()

I need some advice from you all. I have his 06 silver oak that I plan on opening out at dinner tonight. The plan is to decant it, however I don't know for how long...?

Over 2 years in a barrel then another 2 more in the bottle. That's why Silver Oak is always later then other vineyards to release.
I'd decant for an hour to soften up the oak. In any event that ones ready to drink now not later. Hope you like it but get ready for oak, but should open after an hout to let the fruit out. If you had this since the purchase you know the history behind how it was stored. ![]() Still to this day the '97 Silver Oak Alexander Valley was the best Cab I've ever had, I've had real close but those 2 glasses were Perfect. ![]()

Ok guys - total wine noob, so don't kill me.
How do you know when a wine is worth aging or not? I see comments here about you guys buying bottles and then storing them for years. Wines worth aging are more expensive, I am sure, but what actually makes them worth aging? How do you know how long to age a wine? Thanks, |

Hi Wes.
Age old question right there. Could depends on Tannins, acid level, alohol levels, vine age etc.. if you really want to figure things out buy like 6 bottles drink one now, another one 6 months later and then 6 another months another one. Research drink have fun. Trace can chime in. 2012, 2013, 2014 are magical years for Napa Area. Mostly if you buy off the supermarket shelves you can drink those now. Some of ultra boutique vineyards actually limit bottles you can buy and go to Auction as soon as they're bottled. Anyways, good luck and read a lot. There's a ton try. Mostly I purchase ready to drink. On exception if it's a good year in Napa I buy, like the the 3 years above I buy and hold, try 1 in a few months then try in a few months. Mostly decant high end wines that young. Here's what I'm having in less than an hour. Blackened Salmon and pasta tonight ![]()
