I think a better comparison would be the 5711 and the Platinum Daytona. Set price aside as done with the others and it becomes a closer match for me. In Platinum, the Daytona. In SS, YG, RG the Daytona loses out to the 5711 for me.

5711. Am not a great fan of the new Daytona.

Unfair for the Daytona as they aren't in the same league.
It will still be the 5711 for me! Sent from my SM-N9208 using Tapatalk |

Two completely different watches. If you like Chronos then the choice is easy. Me, I much prefer the 5711 aesthetic.

I do like the 5711 aesthetic but at my age - 67 - reliability is very important. I don't have that many years left so can't afford to have a Patek in service for 6 months of more. And the stress of needing frequent servicing.
I have had very good luck with Rolexes, I go 10 years or more between servicing. Again, for me reliability and durability trumps the gorgeous Patek's movements, etc. And I love the looks of Rolexes so for me Daytona is a win on reliability and win on looks. Yes, they are not Pateks but that is okay. |

5711 for me. If the black 116500, then that would be the choice.

Have the 116500 and should have the 5711 blue "very soon." If only one the 5711 for sure.

$1000 every 3 years is pretty harsh...
How long does it take to have a PP serviced from to back? |

My PP is going 7 now and the service center said it doesn't need service yet. I'm the type of guy that if it ain't broken don't fix it. Sent from my SM-N9208 using Tapatalk |

That's fair enough if it's never in water, in my case the gaskets were deteriorated after 3.5 years and I was pointed to their online recommendation of 3 to 5 years service interval. I agree this is disappointing but it's the kind of failure which could be very expensive - could be damaged dial, hands and movement. In future I'll be getting annual pressure test and servicing frequently. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

5711 no doubt for me. You have to see the watch in person and experience it with time to truly appreciate how beautiful it is (front and back).

I agree completely and feel the same way. I love the blue nautilus and the white Daytona ceramic. I think the 5711 in blue is the nicest watch I've owned. |

I keep changing my mind about these two watches. At the moment I think they both look seriously dated. Other times I think I'm being too harsh on them...
The Daytona needs a serious facelift IMO, which the ceramic bezel only temporarily postponed. Never liked the shiny 116520 but the new one is a bit better but still not keen on the little lifeboat-shaped hour markers. And I much prefer bi-compax chronos. I've got a 5711 on order but after waiting nearly a year I'm not feeling the same about it anymore. I'm hoping when I see it in person that I'll be won over, yet in recent months I just keep thinking about the DD40 YG and - in the last few weeks - the Royal Oak 15450/15300 with their amazingly finished case/bracelet. From pics I've seen the 5711 doesn't have that level of finish. Just to add, I think it's difficult to disassociate these two watches from the hype surrounding them. If we ask on a forum which wathces are the most desirable I'm sure these two will be right near the top. So if you want a watch that others will be envious of and congratulate you for obtaining, these are close to being the top choices. As I say, I look forward to seeing the 5711 up close and maybe then I can get clearer on whether I should really be going for the DD40 which seems to speak to more at this time. Funnily enough, when I've asked people should I go 5711 or DD40 they all say Nautilus, no question...and that the RO is inferior to the Nautilus. |

If we were talking pre-ceramic I would say 5711. But the new Daytona wins for me.

Sure, but take both side by side, you can prefer the Rolex, but if you say the Rolex is a better timepiece then IMO you must be nuts, sure maybe better buy quality price wise, but Rolex is at best mid level horology, nothing more, PP is without a doubt high horology...

well personal taste sure, I can get that you can prefer the daytona, objectively the 5711 is way above a daytona C, but then we don't always love the best things the most... |

Often I find with two different things of the same type there's good reason to like both for different reasons. So when it comes to choosing I chose both for different reasons. YMMV but that's what I did anyway. After all that's why most of us have more than one watch in the first place.

I have had the 5711 and RO Jumbo at the same time. The RO has finishing on par or maybe better than the 5711. The bracelet on the RO has more brushed and polished areas than the 5711. |

The RO has more brilliance or shine in finishing than the Nautilus. As to who is more superior is pure subjective. Sent from my SM-N9208 using Tapatalk |
