Rolex is said to come from hoROLogical EXcellence, although Hans Wilsdorf himself never said what it actually meant.

Also, the Milgauss green sapphire crystal was so difficult to make that Rolex didn't bother patenting it saying that other companies wouldn't bother.

It's really a great honour and I'm just totally Gob-smacked to finally meet you Sir. I was 8 yrs old when I watched my first Magnum PI series on TV( 0nly some random episodes in a few seasons).I already knew a little about military watches but nobody told me what Tom Selleck was wearing !

Then I read a story you posted about Magnum PI & Tom Selleck on a thread 6 yrs ago and it all came back. You were a Honolulu police officer and played the part of an extra cop on the set ! That's you isnt it ? The blond Cop shuffling papers !
I always believed that the Rolex Pepsi should be renamed Tom Selleck's GMT.....

I noticed this a couple weeks ago on my new SubC date. I thought, "what a cool coincidence!". I guess with Rolex there are not many coincidences, just attention to detail.
