Picked this bottle of Blue Label up today for a good friend for his birthday tomorrow. He is having us over for a dinner party. I hope he likes it... 🥃

I'm supplying the bourbon/rye and smoked beef brisket for my kids' school Dads Club event tonight. Some traditional Old Fashioneds to start, then a flight of ri1, Blanton's and Michter's 10 year.

Need to add some diversity to my "Brown Water" habits. I just purchased Hibiki Suntory 12 which I've not opened yet.
For a budget of up to $100 per bottle for 3 different bottles, please recommend 3 of your favorites. |

Same here. Although a 25 yo sherry cask Macallan is my absolute favorite. But at 2K+ per bottle, I bring out the three bottles I have only on very extra special occasions and then only for me.

I would say Redbreast 12 yr, Oban 14 yr, Lagavulin 16 yr (if you like peaty whisky).

Lagavulin 70cl
Her she is and up for grabs .......
The Islay representative in the 'Classic Malts' series is a deep, dry and exceptionally peaty bruiser. Probably the most pungent of all Islay malts, Lagavulin is not for the faint-hearted but inspires fanatical devotion in its many followers. if you like whiskey of course |

Big fan of Japanese Whiskey's they have great balance and caramel notes, stylistically it's more similar to Irish whiskey than Scotch but that just personal opinion.

Have been wanting to get a little more familiar with scotches...this thread is good to get a list going to try. Huge bourbon fan, currently enjoying some Michter's and Jefferson's Reserve bottles. Overall favorites are Elmer T Lee and Knob Creek Single.

40 Year Old Whisky
Picked up this special 40 Year Old Whisky just released by Canadian Club. It is so tasty and the new 100% Canadian Club Rye is just as tasty, so smooth!

Not gonna lie, I bought this because of the pretty bottle. Contents are ridiculously good though. This is probably going to be my favorite non-peaty whisky... Will need another dram after dinner to confirm this

How would you describe Lagavulin 8 in comparison to the others? That's the only one I've yet to try.

It is quite close to the Ardbeg 10, very peaty hit with strong alcohol at first then fruity on the end. Not as warm as the 16 but more complex than the Laphroaig 10.
