Upgrade 36 to 41...Any Point?

I think I love my datejust 36, blue dial, jubilee, fluted bezel (hidden clasp)

Is there any point to buying the same watch in a 41mm?

Has anyone else felt the urge to upgrade to/from the same watch or should I enjoy having a 36mm and it’s classic design?

I’m just perplexed, seems more practical to keep it and expand collection but since a couple have popped up for sale on the forum... I’ve been tempted!

If the 36 fits you well then I would suggest sticking with what you have. If you want to add something a Rolex sports model, Speedmaster Pro or a JLC Reverso would be great additions.

All depends on if you think or need a larger watch.

To me you have classic there already.

I went from a 36 to a 41 and am quite happy I did for a number of reasons. I agree with a previous comment that it was not an upgrade however.

Hey man, I have a 36. I am constantly thinking about getting the 41 despite my collection deserving attention to other models. I just feel the 36 is a bit too small.

36mm just wears too small for me. 6.75 “ wrist here. Really up to your preference

I did it the other way around.

My wife bought me a DJ2. Had it for 3 years and then changed it for a DJ41.

So I down-sized, but it was in exactly the same configuration.

I wouldn't see it as an "upgrade" as such, they're really quite different watches given the size difference

Yeah it’s more like do you need a size medium or size large t-shirt - not an upgrade but different. Depends how you like to wear your clothes and your body type. Same for the 36 vs 41 watch.

I wouldn't call that an upgrade, just a different size. So then only if you want the larger size

Now that the 3235 will be across the entire mens DJ line, I see no reason to go to the 41 unless you want a bigger watch. I have a 36mm and keep thinking I want a 41, but every time I put one on, I find I don't care for the size in that watch.

Go to an AD and try some on back to back. You'll get a good idea of which you like better.

That's odd, my 7.25" wrist wears my 36 perfectly.

only if you want a bigger DJ, even that I would now wait for the BLNR jubilee

40 and above I will go for the sporty professional ones. For DJ and YG DD, I prefer 36, and my waist is 7.

Size is both a preference and a style. The classic style is more in the 36 mm camp. The last 10 years people are wearing larger watches hence the 40-43 mm sizes. So there are two things going on; do you like the smaller less noticeable style or do you prefer the more noticeable style? Than the next thing is how it wears on your wrist. At my age the larger watches are like shouting "here I am! I can buy a Rolex." But that is just an old man's opinion based on a desire for the old days. The larger watches clearly are more stylish now. My No 1 daughter wears a SS watch that is much larger than I would ever consider. I presume she has more style than I ever will. So wear what you like.

However don't let simple GAS make you change. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) If that is going on get a different model to expand your collection.

I have a 41 but am actually thinking of getting a 36 sometime. It's a classic size.

No problem with the 39.5mm 41. Just don’t duplicate. Expand to something different.

Maybe it’s kust me but 36 mm looks nice but a little too small. The proportions of the 41mm on the other hand look a bit out of whack. My 39mm Explorer I love, I’m surprised they didn’t do that.
