Would you trade?

Would you trade your 12 for a Lange doublesplit in platinum? Dealer asking prices are equal for both... unbelievable

Would you trade?

I wouldn’t.

I’ll add that clearly the complications of the ALS are far superior, but I don’t like the watch itself (size, case, etc.). YMMV

I wouldn’t. I just love the 12 that much.

Wow at that trade. Silly times indeed... But I can't deny I'd far rather wear the 5712 vs that Lange.

I’d rather trade for a 5170 or 5970.

Nope. Possibly not even for a T stamp.

Have they ever produced a T stamped ALS Platinum Double split?

Price is now is similar to that of a Zeitwerk Striking Time too, which I am as interested in... but I think I would tragically stick with the 5712, I just love the watch and as I've said for many years I don't really know why.

Lol. I meant I wouldn’t trade a 5712 unless they pry it off my dead body lol

But no for a lange

That’d be very tempting as well.

If some one offers me that deal I will do it in no time. In real life those deals are not happening.

Nope . The PP is a piece you can always sell pretty quickly and get your investment back and even make money, if you bought it right. Much as I like the ALS , it would be hard to sell and probably will take a hit if you can sell. Just MO :-)

I hear you. If I owned a DS, I can’t even imagine offering it for a straight up trade with a 12, 5726 blue dial maybe... but for dealers it’s all about the profit and prospect so if stars lined up, could happen...

That's a crazy, crazy trade. From a horological standpoint, mind blowing. But, like some have demonstrated, sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants.

The 5712 is my favorite of the Nautilae but I passed on one new years ago at 30% off list and I'd do the same today if I weren't going to resell it. The Doublesplit is in another galaxy when it comes to watches so my answer would be "yes".

If you think the double split is going to be in the collection for a long time and actually want the watch I think it’s a no brainer. So much “more” watch

Unnatural prices never sustain long term. As long as you have a long time horizon, and are willing to risk Patek discontinuing for a different colored dial, you'll be able to re-buy a 5712 when prices return to (a higher, but still not as high) MSRP.

But what happens if the 12 gets discontinued :)

This just sounds like a section-able comment.

But as Sam says the actual dealer spreads and AD tightening on prices would still mean you having to add quite a bit of cash on top even if on paper they look of similar value. But in a few months this could change if this hype doesn't slow down.

They're tchnically impressive and great finishing but haven't found a Lange that was comfortable to wear. I'd keep what you have and trade it for a patek chrono or pc later if prefer a more complicated watch.
