As I see more photos, I think I prefer the Odysseus. There's something of a tightrope that Lange has walked - it seems very modern but very classic; formal yet rugged. Suddenly makes all other sports watches seem a bit old-fashioned. I would much prefer a rubber strap, or better the VCO's easy-change system.

I do still really like the VCO but when I tried it on, it was too large.

Have a horrid feeling the Odysseus will be the same.

Large + thick just doesn't work with my 6" wrist - the only current sports watch that looks good is the Nautilus, and i put that down to the watch's curve, its thinness, the thick bezel and lack of depth of the integrated lugs. It wears much smaller than its 40mm would suggest.

Nobody will sell me a 5711 or 5712, though, so it's all academic.

I prefer the VC based on how it looks.

If Lange had priced this at $21K and the resale went straight to $27K you would have the same affect.
This.

Curious to see how this poll will be in a few years if the Lange turn out to be very hard to get and gets a high premium on the market.

The VC wears large. So it makes sense that it won't suit people with small wrists. Each to their own.

I love the RO, Nautilus and the Overseas. Each has pros and cons. Everyone will lean towards personal preferences. Personally I aim to own a variant of all 3.

The Langhe isn't bad for a start. Not to my liking currently but I can see myself like a Chrono version on rubber. But as of now it's the Overseas over the Langhe.

What I wonder is whether “hard to get” will still be a thing in a few years time. The industry is catching onto Rolex’s playbook and it’s becoming a trend to make watches unobtainable. When everyone does it though, it’s hardly cool to get one of the unobtainable watches anymore. Just like Breitling, Omega and Hublot limited editions used to be a thing in the early to mid 2000nds and by the end of the decade, when the associations to sports teams, rockets and bond movies started to become ever more forced, it just faded into massive discounts on Jomashop.

From that standpoint, Rolex and Patek/AP have a special place, because the claim of being the original cannot be substituted.

A Lange and an Overseas however, though wonderful on their respective merits (in the latter case at least), will just end up exhausting their target audience’s patience if you withhold too many of them from the market. They may sustain a 6 months waiting period or something like that, but if you make them unobtainable, people will go and seek out something else, if they care in the first place. I mean look at all the limited by production Laureatos being discounted after sitting in dealers cases for years, or the bloodbath Chopard is setting itself up for with windows full of their eagle stuff.

Just my subjective opinion. The finishing on the AP in regards to the case and bracelet are superior in every way. The polished edges and attention to detail on the AP along with the design/finish/heft of the bracelet are IMO (subjective again) superior to the VC. Not taking into consideration the movement.

Putting that aside, I do want to say thank you for the comments you made on the movements, that was very informative and I learned a thing or two about movements. Much appreciated.

VC has the problem of design consistency since the first gen but... this 3rd gen is how they took all critics and make it the overseas Overseas. I don’t see after this 3rd gen they could do much design of thei 3rd gen Overseas. Lange design language is very strong but sport luxury watch is a sport watch added luxury, finishing, materials etc Lange Odysseus is a luxury sport watch which is luxury watch added sport in that spirit So in the spirit of sport watch I will go for the Overseas.
