It’s a great watch. Perfect for flying under the radar and perfect weekend piece.

I initially disliked its simplicity, it started looking good to me and I bought it. Now I love it for its simplicity.

I like the proportions of the 36mm explorers better- but find myself wearing my 39mm a lot. Very easy to read and perfect balance of sporty yet can go to the office.

It's always a yes. It's perfect. What's the availability of them in AD's these days?

Used to own one but gave it up because the proportions were off, in particular the wide flat bezel and the huge numerals. A great alternative that I wound up getting is the 39mm OP. Fantastic watch.

Has been my only watch and daily wearer for 8 years before I added a GO PML.
Works very well with everything (swimsuit, shorts, jeans and suits). Quiet under the radar as well (not a lot of people would recognize it as a Rolex). If you like the look, it is a pleasure to wear. However if you have a lot of watches already you might find a hard time wearing it as it is a jack of all trade and a master of none (nothing wrong with that btw). |

Yes it ain't widely available however they can fairly easy order this one without to much hassle. Explorer 2 ain't attainable anymore according that very AD so i am happy to bought mine 1.5 yr ago when they where also widely available. I must admit that it feels to pay full Retail for the exp.1 as i know they where pretty discounted a yr back or so

Yes, it will complement your 42mm exp 2 with the dial being bigger sans the bezel and will balance nicely in my opinion.
All those saying it's too big I would counter - your too small! |

I have both and they are 2 different watches. I even have the GMT C LN; now that looks a lot like the 114060 and still keeping them all. Each has its own personality and wrist presence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I bought both a 36mm & a 39mm. I wasn't excited about either, however my oldest son always liked the Explorer, he 39 now and wears the 36mm and is very happy. I have two sons so I bought a new 39mm to give to my other son. I wear a "Batman". I wore the 39 for three years before buying the Batman, and I really learned the beauty in it's simplicity. I haven't given the 39mm to the younger son yet as he lives in NYC, and he's not into wearing watches. He did until he went to college in Boston. I wear the Explorer when I want to be more low key. i.e. Traveling in India.

My favorite Rolex. Local AD says there’s 3 people in line for one and they don’t know when they’ll get another in. Plenty of TT DJ41s in the case though, which is why I was there....

Really depends on the individual. I owned one for a short while and it did absolutely nothing for me. Too plain and boring, but that's also the reason why it's so popular.
Definitely check it out in person before purchasing, it looks much better in photos than in real life.

100%! I went back to the GD and tried on the 214270 again. It's just too big for my 6.5" claw. I agree that it might be considered boring. The dial is too vacant, and the huge white gold numerals didn't help. FWIW, I wouldn't call it a "tool watch". A tool for what? I'll be on the lazy lookout for the 114270. |

It is a simple and timeless classic but for me, on the wrist, it was too flat and felt a bit cold and austere. I don't think the flat crystal helps when comparing with the engaging nature of a Tudor BB 58 for example.

Oxford Collar Button Down = quintessential shirt, a necessity for a man’s wardrobe. Therefore, the Explorer is a simple staple for watch owners.

It is an amazing, understated watch. I love mine and will never part with it, but some days it bores me to tears. The aesthetic is exactly what I like (black dial, smooth bezel) but it lacks color. I have been thinking of adding an Air King or Milgauss to switch it up when I go to the office. For the weekends I’ve got an Omega Planet Ocean with some orange accents, so that’s fine.

It will wear more refined than your sub. I think the smaller clasp is way more comfortable than the glide lock clasp. Based on your collection, I think it’s a perfect fit. It will be your most versatile watch, most understated and I give it a huge thumbs up.
