Myself, my family, and my friends have Rolex. Not one of them runs with dead on accuracy. They are all either running slightly fast or slightly slow. If you could buy them out of the case knowing they were fast or slow, which one would you choose?

Don't forget a watch that has stopped is exactly right twice a day. Better than anything else you can buy apart from maybe an atomic clock and they are not exactly(?) wearable!. Me, I'm happy with my Rolex. Roughly right is fine and at the end of the day if I'm 10 secs late who cares

Anyway most of you all take longer than 2 sec to react to push in the winder thingy when that beautiful blonde bird with the big bits says "At the third stroke............"

Knowing the watch is running +2 seconds in 24hr, easier and better(?) for the watch if your anal enough to hack the +2 to 0 seconds and not have to wait for the slow poke to hit 12!

Never bothers me to check the accuracy of my watches. Hell, two of them don't even have a seconds hand.

I had a feeling that somone may comment on not worrying about the accuracy. But, for me, it's part of the fun of owning a Rolex. It doesn't have so much to do with the fact that I need the watch on my wrist to be dead on. It's more that I have interest in mechanical watches and I like to know how accurate they are.

Funny cuz even when I was wearing my Rolex every day, I didnt really care about accuracy. But then again, if I had to keep resetting the time, I would be concerned. I only checked accuracy a few times out of curiosity and it was always within +2 seconds a day.

That said, since I got my Panerai, I havent worn my Rolex (4 months now) and while I havent checked the accuracy of my 01B, I know its running easily within a couple of seconds a day. But I have yet to check for sure. I am more conerned about power reserve, since its a manual wind with no PR indicator. It runs at 47 hours, 50-odd minutes, which is impressive given its an eight year old watch and the specs rate the PR at 44 hours.

Well for me at the moment my most accurate mechanical watch is the cheapest I have ever bought.So accurate had to get the back of to check it was not quartz.I very rarely check for spot on accuracy unless perhaps after I have done a oil service, or a bit of regulation on a watch etc.

I would rather be on the plus side than on the minus side. It's always better to be the first one at a meeting compared to last one to show up.

I understand that alot of people like to know, Seth. There was a time that I did too.

In fact I could track the timing of my watches over long periods of time.

I am just of the mindset now that it is just seconds, and life is too short to fret over seconds.

If you are 2 seconds fast you can set it to the correct time in every night by pulling out the stem for 2 seconds. If you were 2 seconds slow, it'd be hard to get it right on each evening.

Ah, looks like Mike got in before me on this one. If it's +2, all you have to do is hack it for a short period of time. If it's -2, you have to hack it, move it a minute forward and then wait to sync it properly.

My first 16610 was plus 2. My last two watches (TT YM and another 16610) were both minus two.

I really wish I was at plus two, just for the hacking reason. Oh well, such is life.

From my experiences with Rolex watches, they are usually always on the PLUS side. Just place them crown DOWN at night and the PLUS effect is negated.

My best luck with all my rolex's thus far has been to wear them to bed. Laying it in any number of different positions has no effect at all on the accuracy. (This holds true for my last two, not my first 16610)

With my Sub 16610, Dial up makes it gain, crown DOWN makes it lose, but crown UP has no effect at all.
