Once again tech stocks are defying the rest of the market. Another day passes, another day where share prices are just a bit too high for my liking in the tech space, but then again, if it continues to rally maybe I’ll wish I just pulled the trigger now. |

I thought the same pulled the trigger on MSFT a few weeks a go. If it goes down, I'll just add more.

Stocks only down slightly, tech is holding up nicely, S&P has now gone positive but I question how much upside there is here.
I am just watching today

What are people's views of this market now? Two weeks ago some people were convinced that a second bottom was on the way because the upsurge was pure FOMO but the longer this rally goes on..... does a second crash seem more unlikely? Given the uniqueness of this event could the nature of this market response to it be equally unprecedented? |

Things are bad and have been bad, business is reopening, everything else is a wait and see. Yes there is always the possibility of a retest or even lower. I tend to think that in 12-18 months we will be higher and that is how I am positioning and holding assets.

Interesting article on start ups in this economy on NBC business news.
“ Some 82 percent of companies currently backed by venture capital were founded after the global financial crisis, according to a Silicon Valley Bank analysis |

Futures up slightly as more re-openings occur, much of any rebound might be priced in. Buy the rumor, sell the news. I am now thinking that I want to get more defensive as things appear to get better. I will be watching the markets for continuing signs of a near term top.
This in no way changes my longer term outlook https://www.thestreet.com/markets/5-...tuesday-051220 I agree with this anaylsis: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/11/stoc...-predicts.html “Who’s to say that we don’t go for a retest first? That is a normal situation,” said Stovall. “However, I don’t think we’re going to get an even lower low because of the stimulus already injected into the system.” . . . “Wall Street is focusing more on what will be beyond the next 6 to 9 months rather than what could be happening in the next 2 to 3 months,” Stovall said.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/12/euro...-19-cases.html
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/12/coro...-in-cases.html This is the only thing that worries me in today's market - not the high valuations or P/E ratios, but a potential second wave due to a too-soon reopening of the economy. It's not the rules that are a concern, but the way people are reacting to the openings; namely, not social distancing (just take a look at the beaches these days). I too have gotten more defensive in terms of stocks recently.

Fade at the open, not surprising, this market feels tired after earnings.
With little new news I am expecting range bound trading with the possible whipsaw of any new news. My shopping list is thin at the moment as most things have moved away from me so I will be patient, collect my dividends and wait

Interesting thoughts here on foreign investors. Don't know that I agree with it all, but just more knowledge.

Thoughts on vtiq?
Taking off for two consecutive days. Considering chasing. Not sure I believe the “next Tesla” stuff. Little forecast or financial data available. Price movement appears to be on potential. |

Price has rocketed from $12 to $27 since yesterday largely on news that merger would take place by end of June. I think there might be more to the story than what you initially found. Not a challenge. Perhaps an opportunity. But like you say, do your homework. |

Thanks for the measured voice. For a moment I was fully in to chase. It’s on my watch list though. I think alternative energy vehicles and commuting is the future. Just want to see some substance here before committing. |

From CNN business news. “US consumer prices declined for the second-straight month in April, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Tuesday. Prices fell by 0.8% on a seasonally adjusted basis in April, marking the largest drop since December 2008.
That's an alarming drop, dragged down primarily by falling gasoline and energy prices. But excluding volatile food and energy, prices still fell by 0.4%. That's the largest monthly decline in the so-called core consumer price index since the BLS began tracking the data in 1957. Falling prices might sound like a good thing, but economists agree that deflation -- the opposite of inflation -- would be very bad news. When prices fall because people aren't buying things, manufacturers sometimes can't charge enough to make the product they're trying to sell. That means they'll stop making those products and lay off workers. That can start a vicious circle in which demand continues to fall as more people lose their jobs.” |

I was fooled today. Futures up last night/early this morning, and a raging pre-market had me buying on the wrong side of today’s trading.

For sure. Can’t time the market, but nothing like 7 days of green to push the ceiling of your comfortable buy price haha.
