I have a pair of Smith sunglasses for golf that I have not worn much but am over the next couple of weeks as I am playing a bunch. I hear that non-polarized are better when reading greens so I am going to leave my polarized Maui Jim sport glasses behind and try the Smiths.

I so absolutely LOVE my Smith ski goggles. I have the Smith I/OX with about 7 lenses, including the photochromic lens, which automatically adjust to changing light conditions. Absolutely Brilliant!

Agreed that Smith flies under the Radar and are as good or better than many of the brands frequently mentioned here.

Persol guy for a long time then tried a pair of Maui Jim's - definitely different style glasses. Persols you know you have on - the Maui's are so incredibly light weight and easy to wear.

Reviving this thread to see if anyone has tried Face a Face glasses.
I saw a pair this week (Alium model) and really liked the style, just not sure of the lens quality.
Anyone try them?

Maui Jim Red Sands for me. My nephew snapped one of the temple arms off, Maui Jim replaced both arms and nose pads at no charge. Keep in mind, these shades are about 4 years old now. Great company.

Ray Ban guy here as well. Have a few vintage and some old Revo's and Vuarnet I like to mix in. Long time 2140 wearer, but lately been wearing 2132 with a matte black frame and blue/gray tinted polarized lenses. Probably my fav pair ever. Never seen them before or since. Got them at that boutique shop at the LV GTG a couple years ago.

On a different note, I got a pair of Oakley Flak golf sunglasses a few weeks ago. These things are amazing for golf. Never been into wearing glasses on the course and for the most part do not care for Oakley styling, but they are great for golfing.

Oakley does have a few more traditional looking pairs of sunglasses such as Cross Hairs and Gauge.

Maui Jim Kahunas, Ray Ban Aviators, Randolph Aviators and Costa Del Mar’s for fishing. Also have the McQueen Persols but I don’t like the look on me.

Sounds great. I’m hesitant to give anyone a copy of my DD214. Do you know if they’ll accept a copy of my VA card as proof?

Dennis, I don’t remember that being an option, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t one. BTW, I uploaded a copy of my 214 and had no issues, but I understand your hesitancy. I purchased my Mau Jim’s at an incredible discount (like 40% off!) and have had excellent dealings with them.

I never needed to do that when using the ID.ME. Have no idea if that works with Maui Jims however.

Maui Jim’s policy- if you break it they fix it for a nominal cost and if they can’t fix it they replace it with a heavy discount on a new pair of your choice. Best customer service !

Thanks for the info. It seems lots of Vets use it and with your opinion, I’ll likely join up. Always nice to get a nice discount especially in these trying times. Thanks again

Thanks for the tip. Just ordered my first pair of Jacques! Tad expensive but quality looks second to none.

I have worn Oliver peoples for the last decade or so, and they have been fine, but I have wanted to get out of the luxottica hell house for so long... this was my opportunity!

Purchased the Molino in Havana 4

I used to care for expensive sunglasses only but Now I just buy cheap and Onsale sunglasses since it’s hard for me to take care of them, either they fall off or I lose them lol. I’d they do I just replace them. At the end did the day the sunglasses come from the same manufacturing company.

I was always a Maui Jim fan, but my last couple of pairs had anti reflective coating issues on my prescription lenses. MJ acknoledged the issue, but didn't want to replace the lenses. In recent years, they are not as consumer friendly as they once were. I wear Oakley for golf and cycling and I also have a couple of Ray Ban Wafarers that I wear often. But, my MJ full wraps in winter months are a must. Variety is a must for me with sunglasses. I can't keep up with my wife, she has about 40 pairs.

I bought the Dealan and loved them so much that I bought also a pair of Saint. I am so impressed of the workmanship along with fit and finish. Love these and never knew about them until one of our members posted about these.

Another Oliver Peoples fan here. Excellent customer service as well.. I scratched my polarized glass lenses and just had to pay for shipping for them to be replaced (was quoted about $400 to replace the lenses at an independent store).

edit: Have 3 pairs now.

That’s been my experience as well. However, sometimes you just want to wear something that looks a little different.
Here’s a pic of the Alium I’ve been considering. They’re nice frames.
With prescription lenses I was quoted just over $1k. That’s a little high but not out of the question. I asked the optician about my lens choices and she gave me several to look at BUT they were from a different company. According to her Alium doesn’t make the lenses, only the frames. The lenses are then supplied by a local lab.
I can’t justify that much money when the lenses could be of lesser quality.
With my Maui’s I know what I’m getting and the results are excellent. I think I’ll just stay with them.
