In house service VS Larger RSC

Well it was finally time to send my almost 8yr old Exp2 in for Service. I took it to a local AD, who happens to be a small chain in my state (about 4 locations). This was not where I originally purchased the watch, as they are over an hr away. Anyway, the associate states it would first be sent to their HQ, which is an authorized service center. If they are unable to do the work (due to time or being backed up), they’ll send it to a larger authorized repair center (they said in PA). I actually even had this piece serviced their while it was under warranty years ago due to time not keeping as tight as I’d like, and they did a great job. Well my question is, do you suspect quality at the small “in house” HQ center will be as good? I’m just hoping I made the right call. Was tempted to send in to NY or Dallas on my own but did not want the hassle, as well as read mixed reviews. Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance.

Maybe, maybe not? You've already made your decision though, so you'll find out soon enough.

I suppose I will. I’m assuming the in house technicians are all certified etc. truthfully I doubt it will be done there. The watch was really starting to get wacky, but what do I know.

I don't think that the sales staff knows.

The RSC in Pa is a Rolex shop, AD's don't sent their overflow work there, Rolex does.

If it's a chain, such as Ben Bridge, they have their own Service Center in Seattle, Tourneau also has their own Center.

Nothing wrong with a qualified local shop doing the work; nothing wrong with sending to Rolex to do the work, but you should know up-front where it's going.

If the Dealer sends it out, you don't have any further say in the process.

I had two Omegas serviced by Hyde Park on site in Denver and they did a better job than Omega.

This thing isn’t a nuclear submarine, but it really depends on who you get.

It wasn’t that the AD was sending it there, they informed me that if their in-house SC can’t do the work, for whatever reason, they being the SC, would send it there. I know it’s not just a “shop” as the AD I purchased from had it sent there years ago as I mentioned, and I had called over for updates etc and it was a service center, from how they answers the phone and how I had to go about contacting them.

My local AD is an an independent jewelry store. I had my DJ serviced by them last month and they did an outstanding job. I received an official Rolex warranty card and the Rolex travel case. I purchased it new from them in 1994. They did a complete service in 2008 and again last month.

Some ADs can service a Rolex and provide a two-year warranty?

I'm sure it'll be fine. They've probably serviced 1000s of them before.
