MB&F Legacy Machine
Hello TRFers,
Huge AP fanboy but now I have been admiring the MB&F legacy Machine line. Tried searching for threads on MB&F but couldn't find much. I am very impressed with the level of craftsmanship and finishing (Kari Voutilainen), as well as the cool factor of the balance wheel on the dial side (heartbeat of the timepiece after winding). For my price point I am torn between the Ti LMSE & the Pt LM101. My grail piece is definitely the LM Perpetual, IMHO the best PC in the market currently I would love to hear what other collectors and especially current owners experience - like servicing cost, are they delicate timepieces, overall ownership experience. Thanks in advance. |

While we are on the topic, is it possible to order them without the "legacy machine" text?

I don’t think so. From all the interviews I watched of Max online, he rarely / might not customize pieces for clients unlike Kari I think it’s only the LM split escapement without the text on the dial Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have the LM 101 and it is an amazing watch. The size is perfect. The limited edition versions are really nice with unique dial colours, especially the Palladium.
My friend has the SE and it is bigger and I find a bit messy. You can't go wrong with the 101. Good luck in your hunt. They are hard to come by especially the limited editions. |

Not yet. Plan to try on the LM101 before making the bold decision. Heard some new pieces might be released in October waiting for that as well Which did you try on? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The split escapement you posted on the second page with the green dial. One of my worries is if they go kaput servicing them down the road.

I believe they now offer 4 years warranty if bought new from an AD/boutique. IMHO the perpetual is the best in their current line-up and in the industry. Still looking for feedback from others based on their ownership experience Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don’t know much about long term ownership, but have seen a few in person and they are really cool watches. For me, the LM101 was the closest to fitting on my wrist, but was still a bit large (they are pretty thick). I would make sure you try them on as the dimensions are pretty unique. Other than that, I wondered if I would grow tired of the design and whether reading the time would be easy for everyday use, so I passed, but think these are some of the coolest watches on the market.

3 new versions of the LM101 will be released next week. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Begin reply.
I will aid you. Humans have a concept they call "humor". It can be difficult to process. Here, there is a very large disparity between the watch pictured and the comment referring to it as a "rust bucket", hence this comment is to be found humorous by humans visually analyzing the text data. End comment. |

I do like some of the updated styling cues like the larger subdials and removal of the engraving on the base plate, but I still prefer my frost version over any of the new versions. If I had to choose one, it would be the SS version which, if I recall correctly, is the one you'll be getting.

Yes. It is the steel version which I am getting. The color is bright but I have a ROO which is in bright blue and it does not bother me much. Since this watch will definitely be a conversation piece when I wear it so a “loud” dial may not be too bad. Legacy Machine is more a kinetic art piece which just happens to tell time IMHO. |
