Upgrade to DJ

I bought a 126300 (blue dial with sticks on Jubilee) last year, and came to regret not buying the fluted version.

I recently upgraded - bought the fluted version. After swapping the bracelets (the new one came on Oyster), I am very happy!

Also picked up a ladies DJ in SS with diamond markers for my wife (279174) which she is very happy with.

Now I have the two DJs, the smooth looks amazing on Oyster, and the fluted looks great on Jubilee (my pick), these two are definitely the best combination to me. One sporty and one dressy. I could never deal with PCLs though.

Someone is going to get a good deal getting a slightly used DJ with an unworn bracelet!

Lesson for me - take your time and make sure it is right.

Tried on a sub too.... would like a sports watch in the near future.

So you sold the DJ and got the SUB LV?
They are all stunning watches. Hard to part with the DJ but if I have to I would leave the fluted.

Amazing that the fluted with a jubilee is stunning. The smooth bezel with the Oyster is also a looker. Good analysis.

No I bought the fluted DJ, only tried on the LV, so right now I have both DJs until I sell one (keeping the fluted on Jubilee, I think it looks amazing, and for me is more ‘everyday’ than a sports watch like a sub).

I want a sports watch in a few months, but can’t decide between a BLNR, a LN or LV sub.

I fear I am only drawn to the LV because of the hype, everyone I show that photo to that are not into Rolex say ‘why would you buy a bright green watch’!

Also not sure if I want two with the same strap (BLNR).

Totally agree. Unless you dress like a Leprechaun

And great looking DJ. I have the blue dial also.

Get a black dial sub! You won’t regret it, perhaps a no date ...

I never follow the hype on anything.
I passed on the BLRO for Tudor’s GMT.
The green not for me either unless i have in a wide collection which is not my style. Like having one or 2 max and enjoy them everyday.
The first watch model that made me want a Rolex was the DJ 41mm in configuration like yours. When I was ready to pull the trigger I tried the SD43 and fell in love.
Now, if I’ll ever get a second Rolex, it’s gonna be the DJ41. I already have a gmt from Tudor so the DJ will make the perfect trio for me.

That’s a fantastic collection, and agree those three would cover all bases.

My problem is I don’t know if I am following the hype or not! I think the Hulk and the new LV look great, but I think I am succumbing today group think because in my experience non Rolex followers think they look terrible.

I am leaning towards LN I think.

I wonder if you will have issues sending the watches (also thinking future owner of the oyster/smooth bezel) to Rolex for service. Based on the serial number they know what's supposed to be on the watch, just wondering if they will give you a hard time with that.

AD said it’s not a problem as that reference comes with both, serial number is not pinned to a bracelet - the ADs swap them about themselves.

OP where are you selling the smooth DJ?

I’m personally not interested but just wondering where people sell as I have an OP41 I’m trying to get rid of.

Thanks.

Were they willing to sell you the LV or only letting you try it on?

You mean without attracting the attention of your AD?

Cool, I was just curious because I asked my AD if I could order a jubilee bracelet in case I wanted to mix things up a bit, but she said no since the watch didn't come with the jubilee, I can't order one, but I could order another Oyster. So I guess I'd have to find someone who has a Jubilee DJ 41 and have them order one.

Not rushing to buy and only buying what you love is both more satisfying and less expensive.

You must always get the fluted bezel on a DJ, it's simply part of that models DNA

Wise decision my freind. Fluted, Jubilee is the way to go. One of the worst problems Rolex has is never having any stock to try on to compare beforehand.

I think so! Maybe a leather strap dress watch, but that would literally get a few wears a year so can wait.

Thanks.

Don’t know yet - I am worried about a private sell, so will do a bit of research this week and see.

A few have told me watchmasters margins are not too bad.

Might keep it and trade it in with the AD for a more in demand piece in the future, haven’t decided.

I will PM you - I did put a post in here asking a similar question, but it got taken down (which I can understand why looking back).
