Mondani Rolex encyclopedia, Dowling & Hess, and searching through these forums. If you have specific interests, start with those models or era. There is some Rolex produced literature throughout the years on their history as well.
As with most things, really just takes time familiarizing by looking through thousands of sold listings, pictures online, old adverts, threads, seeing them in person as much as possible, browsing eBay listings and asking lots of questions to learn. |

Do books even exist anymore?
All the information you need is online. Mostly on this forum. |

OP, don't waste any money on good looking books, nice pictures, but with many mistakes on them .
Just go for this one from Morningtundra: "The Vintage Rolex Field Guide" https://www.watchhunter.org/2019/09/...ng-tundra.html |

I second the "Rolex Field Manual" recommendation, particularly the Chevalier Edition if you are looking for valuable information.
The Mondani books are pretty, but not informative in the least.

Correct answer here. I have some books because they are fun to look through and sit on the table, but if you really want to learn, the internet has the info.

Does anyone have "A Man & His Watch" by Matt Hranek? I've been debating picking a copy up!

Aman and his watch book is o.k. it is just stories of famous men and their 1st watch. It only has a few rolex referenced.

If you want a good Rolex reference book try Vintage Rolex Sport Models by Martin Skeet. The newest version is about $85 on Amazon.
