Daytona value lots of use vs clean

Hello,
I am ready to pull the trigger on a Black face Daytona.
What would you buy?
2002 Y Rolex Daytona, Box papers (USA) ect for 16,500. The issue is it has a lot of use last 15 years.
Or
Very slightly/30-90 days used 2003 F, sticker on back, Box papers (german papers) for 18,500.
Both are small hands.
Is it a waste of 2K to buy the same watch just no use on it?
Both are the same seller
Thank you

Is the other one polished to death, or just dinged up? Any photos?

In that case I’d take the worn one and spend the extra money on a fresh service. If you want a refinish you could get that too, still for less than the price difference on the NOS one.

I wanted to add the watch will be worn very little. I had one 10 years ago, love the look but hated the watch, no date, no rotating bezel and just difficult to read the time.
I will be wearing it when I do not need to tell the time, lol. If that makes a difference.

the F series is a 17 year old watch, there is no way to check # of days used. i would go with the cheaper one if not major issues

Wow, 3 votes for saving the 2K, I appreciate the input, not what I was thinking but that is why I’m here. I value your options.
Thank you

We can't see your desktop link without an IP address and password. Be sure to enable Remote Desktop.

Somewhat seriously though, since you're buying it to not wear it and when you do wear it not to tell time I would save the $2,000.

I would buy the better condition one. Have your own marks on it or be careful and baby it.

Considered the black ceramic option?

A bit more but I expect better value long term

Buy a watch that you can not see what time is. Interesting

v

The Daytona with little wear. I wish is was smart enough to put pictures side by side. A big difference was in the band, the one used everyday had play in the band.

I was going to say it depends on who has worn either. It's possible a watch has been looked after even if it has been worn longer. However since it is clear one is in much better condition..

If your buying it and not bothered about the time save your self $16500 and don't bother with a watch. Get a bangle instead.

Condition is everything. Buy the one in the better condition. There is a reason it is 2k more.

LOL, is this some kind of time warp? I couldn't stand my first Daytona either, mostly because I couldn't tell what time it was. I thought the second one (PM) would be better. Guess what? It wasn't.

I agree, with the caveat that you shouldn't buy either one of them, based on your earlier post (quoted above).

I know I’ve read on TRF for years how people can’t read the time on their Daytona’s but isn’t that basically the same on most chronograph? Busy busy dials. I love chronographs despite this...

Decision Day:
5 votes- move on buy a different watch, LOL
5 votes-Save the 2K
5 votes-buy the newer one
1.Ceramic is out, still warming up to it
2.I have bought other brands and always come back to Rolex
3.Maybe I should move on but at 16,500 I feel the the risk is very low
Thank you all for taking the the time to respond, I truly appreciate it.
