116520 Daytona bracelet polishing?

Hey TRF,

I recently got a 2015 daytona at a high price. Overall condition is good and the bezel is 95% new - the prior owner had protection film on it. But there are some ugly wide and long scratches on the bracelet and so annoying.

So here are my questions. If I polish bracelet only from RSC - will it affect the value of the watch?

If it does not, I want to polish the bracelet when I complete service in the near future. What are your thoughts?

Personally, if it bothered me, I'd have it polished by a qualified person. The controversy about polishing is to me, a bit insane on a non vintage watch.

Those light marks can be buffed out in a few minutes.

Congratulations on your new watch!

Polish work that accompanies interval service performed by professionals are fine.

A RSC would fix that easy and you would never know there had been a mark on it.

I would even consider masking off the PCL myself and improve those marks with a light polish.

I will now wait for the

Thank you! Do you think if polish it will affect the value when I resell it?

A plain and simple fact the only time any Rolex watch needs polishing is at normal routine service only. Which is now depending on use around 8-10 years, and a RSC polish will not effect the value of any watch. What could effect the value is those wanting to polish every time they see a few normal wearing scratches.

Difficult to tell, but those maybe original brushed and polished. Had this ever been touched before? if not You will absolutely be making a mistake by giving this to a RSC. Don't touch it. not this reference. And rsc charges about 300.00 but it's only as an exception or they may require a full service which would be 850++

What do you mean "not this reference:?

This has not been touched, not even from RSC. If I do polishing that is going to be when I do full service maybe in 2-3 years later. what do you think?

I think the speculation in re-sale value has gone a bit overboard lately. Wear the watch and enjoy it, it's inevitable that you're going to get a few marks by wearing a watch that has polished surfaces. If resale and condition is so important then you can always lock it up in the safe, but where's the fun in that?

As far as the scratches goes, I really don't see any reason why you should polish those away. Within a few weeks of wear you'll have new ones :-)

Don't get it polished, wear it and enjoy it worry free. If you at any point wish to sell it and it's full of battlescars, send it in for a full RSC service.

Trust me, there are way more buyers that would appreciate a freshly serviced and like-new polished Daytona than there are vintage guys that say NEVER POLISH :-)

absolutely not.

You would be amazed how easily and perfectly that will polish out. It's really a non issue.

I have to agree with this. They all get scratches and scuff marks, it's unavoidable. They clean up really well when the time comes but if it's on your mind as to resale value, maybe ultimately it's not worth the aggravation. Nice watch! I have the same one..But mine is in mint condition. JOKE!

Almost looks brand new! if you plan to wear and keep it my opinion is don't polish it now. You most likely will get some new scratches on it and you can't be running to the AD polishing it every time. There is also the risk of the AD scratching lugs when removing the bracelet...

No for most people since as said above it is not a vintage piece

But will be, and since if had never been touched I wouldn't get it polished for some superficial scratches. So yes a never polished example in excellent shape, SS Daytona may be more desirable to many buyers if it were to remain as such.

With PCL’s you’ll polish today and the scratches will be back tomorrow

As Padi states, maybe at regular service if you feel the need, otherwise enjoy your watch

A proper case/bracelet refinish will never devalue your watch.

All it does is turn off the small but vocal anti-polish crowd. However, the crowd that likes a well maintained and attractive watch is a far bigger crowd.
