Talking Stocks 2.0

Seems very volatile today, up and down and up again, doesn’t know where it wants to go.

Added AMD @ sub 80 and more AAPL @ 120.

Been adding in chunks on the way down, but I still have my big stash of cash ready to deploy when the moment is right. I’m kind of thinking we haven’t seen the bottom yet, but keeping a close eye.

The Elliot wave trading analyst I follow thinks 3775 if it holds will be the bottom, otherwise we could be looking at 3600 or less before we shoot to 4300 by years end...after that, possible melt up to 6,000...then he thinks we’re in for a multi year rough patch.

A second analyst I’ve been reading (although he hasn’t been as spot on as the first, thinks 7/2022 we’ll top out.

I too think we have room to run...but I’ll probably look to protect profits starting second quarter next year rather than buying the dips.

Added to GEVO. At a market cap of 1B, with 500M cash in the bank, zero debt, IP valued at 400M, 1.5B in long term contracts and an additional 6B in contracts in discussions in a green energy climate, I think this is extremely attractively priced.

I think it’s fair to say we’re all feeling some pain today. Best of luck out there. I’ve decided to stop adding, let the market ride, and realize that I’m only down back to my position levels 2 months ago...

I don't think I have ever posted on this thread, even though I make a living trading. I trade futures daily but I do have a long term portfolio. I choose my stocks for this portfolio very carefully and add very rarely.
Today I am adding AFRM to my long term portfolio. The stock as gone down tremendously the past few days, due partly to a general market correction, as everything is down, but in AFRM case also due to an early lock-up release. I never advise anyone on financial matter, so take it as an idea.... but I thought I would bring it up, this is a good chance to get-in at what I consider a huge discount price for a company that I feel has a very solid product. Don't expect anything amazing for the next year, Paypal took a year and half before it started surging.... But right now AFRM is under their first day IPO public offering price.

Markets not reacting well (at all) to Powell's commentary. What else can you do but hold...

Is the market overreacting towards MGNI and TTD on google’s news that they won’t track via cookies? Google previously said in 2022 they’d stop. And MGNI’s purchase of SpotX doesn’t rely on cookies.

Also, how come Google’s stock price isn’t down so much compared to MGNI and TTD?

https://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...totype-Support

Unified 2.0 is supposed to replace cookies (someone with more knowledge correct me if I'm wrong please).

That said, I think the pain felt is just due the increased volatility in the high flying names versus the old tech giants. Just look at the move in SE, APPS, PINS, etc vs. FB, GOOGL, AAPL.

Ya I’ve been nibbling on the way down, but I’m hoping for a steeper discount sooner rather than later.

Very true and I'm happy with the RKT run from 19s to my exit in the low 30s after selling off the rest. Too bad Corvus Pharma is in the tank with all my profits!

But I'm out of most of my high flyers and settled into positions I feel comfortable in over the long haul. Only one left is LUMN, bought at 9 for the fat divvy but never like seeing big runs unless it's a biotech going ballistic.

Will check out WMT thank you for the rec. COST caught my eye as well.

Its not a crash I am concerned about. Its really about having clarity on where I think its going over the next 10 months in 2021.

I was only 30% vested coming in this morning and finishing cashing out. Kept only around $100-150K of exposure. Had a great run and was lucky to have kept the bulk of earnings from the past 10 months.

I will have some low limit orders in new ideas on this market pivot and not expect same rate of returns going forward.

Good luck all!

I spent the day trimming exposure in my lowest conviction names and DCA in my highest. We were due for a correction, I just hope this doesn’t become a meltdown.

Realized my portfolio needed some cleaning up as it is. The last three weeks has been almost as expensive for me as last March... GLTA out there.

I think my ARK funds are down about 20%+. Didn't get a chance to sell at the top - so will hold. This too shall pass.

I’m not expecting a crash, but Nasdaq finally just down 10% from highs today. SP500 is has quite a bit further to get to a 10% drop from its recent top. I would gladly welcome that.

Economy is recovering and moving to mid cycle. This doesn’t change day to day.

5-10% corrections are normal. And for those of you that forgot, they’re normal several times a year.

Know what scares me? A market that doesn’t correct...

I have a good chunk in GME and am up over 100% in three weeks. I believe there is a squeeze coming and I would recommend you look at it.
It's a great long term play with the new leadership and has a potential for a short squeeze in between.
