Offered platinum Daytona

I've been offered a platinum Daytona (brown subdials) from my local AD. I'd be crazy to pass on this, right?

Well, Unless you have 85k burning a hole in your pocket, I think you should make sure you like the watch before purchasing.

So long as you like it and feel the price is palatable, I say go for it!

If you think you are crazy to pass at RRP

I passed at 35k GBP from a reseller in 2015

I don’t regret it. I admire these greatly and love seeing them here. It just wasn’t for me. I can’t just buy things for the sake of it. In comparison, I’d much rather have a meteorite GMT which is only 32k.

Do you like it? Buying to keep or to flip?

I'd say it's too much money for what it really is. Paying just for materials than a more interesting movement. I'd rather spend that sort of money in Pateks at MSRP.

But if you're buying to hold and then sell, that's another story.

Definitely buying to keep. I've never sold or flipped a watch. I've been crazy about this watch for the last 2 years, and I just assumed I'd never be offered one by an AD (I'm not a huge spender). The price is way higher than any watch I've ever purchased, but I do have the means, and I just love it. I'm going to pull the trigger!

If you have to ask I would pass. That is a ton of money for a watch you have any question about.

You should love it. But get AD to do 0% financing.

You get the watch and you avoid lost opportunity cost on your capital.

$85,000 is the the AD price? Or is that marked up? I think I purchased mine for $54,000 years ago, or is the diamond version? Thanks

75k is the asking price since it is the non-diamond version. What's the feasibility of swapping dials in the future to the diamond baguettes? Is this doable with rolex's official blessing?

It’s a buy at $75,000

Try to buy one on the Grey market at this price. You can wear it, enjoy it, and most likely sell it later at a premium.

If you have the free cash and want it, go for it (as it's worth a lot more on the secondary market). If you're just getting it to flip it then you need to decide if it's worth the hassle or if you should let someone get it who really wants it.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I'm going to just go for it and enjoy the stealth. Can't wait to have it on my wrist! It's unbelievable that it's heavier than my deepsea.
