Perfect watch with a flaw? (Sub clasp)

Can someone please help answer, for 5digit sub bracelet, what’s the 2 extra holes function on the clasp? I can’t seem to fig out, they don’t seem to serve any purpose. It’s not like you can adjust positions.

This puzzled me forever. Hope someone wise can help answer the original intend of use. Usually they don’t just drill holes for nothing.

Not that I don’t understand the use of diver extensions. Mine is so old, the rivets went right through those folding holders and sits beneath it. Never thought they meant to be fold holders.
