Wow! Congrats!! I know exactly what you mean about the details not showing up in photos. When the Code is handled in person, it is much different and a very interesting, nuanced watch with a ton of cool little details. I am one who likes the Code from the start and never understood the hate it got. I don’t own anything higher end than a Rolex or Omega, but I hope to add a Code someday, as well as a RO of some sort and a ROO Diver.
Congrats again. The watch is stunning and the dial looks amazing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You should pair it with the blue croc strap, that’s what I did and it’s amazing.

Its not that much different in the mirror to be honest. I used to have a sd43 which essentially has the same lug to lug measurement and this wears as big as that. The lugs arent as form fitting as they look because of the overall case thickness. Definitely looks like I’ve maxed out on size for the code. To your earlier question, yes this is my first AP all around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Such a nice watch, and so much nicer in the flesh than in pictures. Congrats.

Congrats. The Code is indeed amazing and it needs to be seen in real life.
I also went for the blue dial but the 3 hander. |

Beautiful watch, congrats! The Code is criminally underrated, and this reference will have its day for sure.

Must be a trend.
Sold a BLNR for almost what I paid for it in 2013 and, an Explorer II. Sold a Speedy to a soldier in S. Korea. Sold a Monaco to a guy in Indy. Traded an IWC Aquatimer, a Zenith Striking 10th and the cash above for a Code: This gives me a nice travel watch (Glashutte Original Senator Cosmopolite), a diver (Blancpain Fifty Fathoms), a tool watch (Explorer II) and a hunting watch (Sinn 30-06) plus, a few knock-arounds. Edit: Backstory on the watch. The op had to buy it to get a RO. He never registered it or removed the plastic. I was able to register it with AP, no problem. I got a very good deal on it. Best of all, my wife and I were already planning a trip to Europe next year. One stop was going to be Glashutte Germany and I knew I wanted to go to Switzerland but hadn’t nailed down a specific place. With the purchase of the AP, the plan is to visit Le Brassus and take their masters class.

Wow! That is a great story. Would like to hear more on why you like your Code. Congrats! By the way, the Masterclass is amazing. The English version sells within a couple of days. Contact the museum and ask when they plan to announce the course for the month and purchase the class immediately. Don’t wait. Also, note that the hotel is supposed to be operational this summer. That thing is going to be bonkers. eVERY brand will be using that place for events. There is hardly anything in Vallee de Joux. Good luck and congrats on that beautiful Code. |

Thanks! It’s great to hear a first-person’s experience with the class. I wonder: would they like my AP more or the 6798 that I built from a tray of parts? You also confirmed my assumption on the classes: they sell out immediately. I tried to contact AP re the 2023 class release date but their form on the ‘net wasn’t functioning. Thanks for the reminder. I saw a piece on the hotel. We’ll stay there for a few days. Our typical trip to Europe is to pick a couple of locations and stay there for a few days branching out to explore. This trip will be the same. Land and then use trains and buses to move around. The smartphone has made this so simple with its ability to route you from place-to-place. Glashutte to Le Brassus can be done in one long day but, it’s vacation. We’ll break it up into two days and enjoy the train trip! Edit: why do I like it? The dial is astounding and all of the angles of finishing is as complex as there is in any watch available. The lugs for example are a work of art and the crystal provides a real-world demonstration of diffraction grating. Cool!

Great answer on the Code. Agree with your points.
Wear what you like. My instructor was this really funny, jolly guy named Willy. I don’t think he cares much what you wear. However, I got lots of complements of my Purple Code from staff especially the restoration folks. It feels to me that they are really proud of that project. Your trip sounds amazing. Note that Vallee de Joux is hard to get to by public transport - not impossible. Might be worth renting a car. Stop by and make appointment with Romain Gauthier and David Candaux - excellent watchmakers and just a few mins from each other. Also, if stopping in old town Geneva, you now have MB&F, Urwerk, DeBethune, FP Journe, and AkriviA within a 10 min radius walk. It is so awesome! |

Wait….. you have the purple one? I found that one to be amazing but, at my age, I’m not sure I could pull it off! Thanks for the advice, I greatly appreciate it. Traveling with my wife is a balancing act. I can’t, in good conscience, focus on *my* interests too much. On the other hand, if we’re walking around and just happen to find ourselves in front of one, or more, of those you mentioned, there’s nothing wrong with a quick stop, eh?
