Help with the difference between OP and Datejust
Got a Rolex itch to scratch.
Also on a list elsewhere for a few others and mainly what arrives first really. Originally had eyes on Batman. But let's be realistic. With this AD I don't have a sufficient purchase history and with the hype? Won't ever see daylight. Was on list for red and yellow OP41. But those got discontinued this year. Still got the green in play. So now my Rolex list is green OP41 Datejust 41- steel and white gold and YM- everose or Rhodium. Not fully decided yet. YM I'm cool with. OP and Datejust though? The difference I can find is: DJ has date, precious metals and bezel option. Other than that, sizings, water resistance, clasp, are the same for both? |

The OP uses the 3230 cal, the DJ41 uses the 3235.

Most important difference that matters to me (besides the date complication) is polished lugs and center links vs brushed

Help with the difference between OP and Datejust
The differences are exactly what you see on the website when comparing both. There aren’t any esoteric differences that only people on TRF would know about, except maybe the historical context of each watch.

OP41 has brushed case and brushed Oyster. DJ41 has polished case and polished center links on Oyster and/or Jubilee. Also get bezel choice on DJ41.
Both outstanding watches. Get the one you like best. |

I’ve had my Coral Red OP41 for a couple of months now and it’s getting lots of wrist time. Out of 12 Rolex I’ve owned since 1984 it’s only the second one with brushed bracelet. That really makes a difference in the hairline scratches that show up instantly on PCL’s. Its clasp doesn’t have the extra security fliplock but it is plenty safe. Has the Easylink and I like the engraved versus raised crown. In short it’s a very sporty all rounder while the DJ series has a dressier element to it. Subtle differences but both would make a good first/only Rolex.
