5513 Mark 1
Hi All,
As some of you may have seen from my previous posts, I have been searching for a nice 5513 or 1680 for some time. Some forum members have provided some amazing feedback and I am extremely grateful for this. I have come across another 5513, this time a mk1 that I am interested in from www.vintagewatches.it in Italy. I have spoken with the dealer and she has said that all parts are 100% original and dial and hands are perfect. Any feedback, as in previous posts is hugely welcome. Thanks Link to watch below https://www.vintagewatches.it/en/pro...xi-dial-mk1-2/ |

Not really my business, but I'm curious what sort of taxes/fees would you have to pay to import this to the UK from Italy.

The watch looks great, the VC on bracelet should means 1978, you can ask him about this detail
For what is worth my opinion, Stefano Mazzariol is a very reliable dealer and an expert on Vintage Rolex, I would trust his word |

Et vive le Brexit...
Concerning the head itself it's been correctly polished, lugs still strong, despite the very slight damage (dings) at the very end of 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock. It landed on a hard surface twice, which is quite normal for a 45 years old watch. Strong and perfect dial, very whitish as most of the MK1s. For me, that's the beauty of the MK1, it really looks as new! I'd only ask for UV pics to see how lume/hands react. Go for it! Zubmariner! Last edited by Filipćo; 23 September 2022 at 10:17 AM.. 20% VAT means over $22k USD for a 5513 with no accessories. That would be hard for me to swallow, but everyone has a different approach.

Also it's a random toss-up as to whether HMRC add 3-4% DUTY on top of 20%, as manuf. 'country of origin' rules apply as Switzerland not in EU. All very draconian stuff. As F says Vive la Brexit - not !

Ps - if you want to have a 'look at it' so to speak if you get my drift - flights to Pisa from UK are very cheap and he's a taxi journey away from airport.

I agree about the final cost, $22/23K makes you think twice...
I like the idea to go and check it out, use the possible face to face discount to pay for the flight... |

Great-looking Sub, with very little patina, which is interesting.
Stefano is obviously very well known in the vintage Rolex world, so you're paying extra for a worry-free purchase. Always better to overpay for a great example without issues than bargain hunt. This price for a Maxi Sub will probably look cheap in a couple of years. |

Thanks very much for all the responses.
It does indeed look like a nice watch. I’d also looked at flights from UK to Pisa and I can be there and back in the day for £65 so I feel it’s got to be worth the trip. Will update in due course. |

Not a mk1 but Subdial.co has a 5513 for a lot lesser than 19k. Plus theyre local to you in the UK. Meters first dial with a gorgeous patina.

Hope the £ to doesn't deteriorate further for you (us), it has gone down 5.4% in the last month alone (that's about £700-800 more for the piece) - eeek alors !!

Frightening isnt it! Then of course factoring in Wise transfer fees etc and its piling up. Im chasing condition however and Ive been on the search for a nice matte dial 5513 for some time. I can tell you that theyre relatively scarce in all original and good condition and if you focus on the UK market alone since Brexit the search narrows significantly further!

Later crown Wrong bracelet According to Xeramic chart, later insert (no big deal as the value would be the same as a contemporary one) I prefer Stefanos watch case condition.

I was looking at a Rolex from subdial. They talk about openness and transparency….I asked them for photos of the serial numbers and case back etc (not a big ask and to be expected) was told they were on it -
I’m still waiting after 2 weeks… nothing…. |
