The AP feels like a more special watch than the Daytona to me. That doesn’t make it better- if it’s your only watch the Rolex might be better.. If you can have a few then the AP might be the way to go.
I don’t put on a Daytona and say OMG. The APs give me more of that wow

The the OP : for a true sports watch that you can wear every day - id go Daytona. More rugged, less horrible when it gets a scratch, more waterproof, a bit more recognizable.

When you want to be a bit more refined with (IMO) a better wear, more substantial wrist presence - you go for RO

If RO owners are not having reliability/accuracy issues with the movement while truly daily wearing, it would make me feel more comfortable buying one. I love the bracelet and the tapisserie dial, it's just the bezel and its screws that have always turned me off, and that watchmakers have expressed that it's generally a more delicate movement compared to Rolex. However, I imagine there are different movements depending on the model and year, so if anyone knowledgeable about the movements can chime in, it would be helpful.

Truth is, if you dislike a specific design language, you won’t change your mind. And, no one here can convince you otherwise.

For me; I work in tech. Every few weeks, my team pulled a miracle out of our asses, in as little as 24 hours—the jumbo resonate with me in this regard. Simple as that.

My rotation consists of roughly xx watches, I’m also Rolex heavy. BUT, every time I need a little extra love/inspiration on the wrist, it’s the job for the RO. Nothing else will do. Not even Pateks.

Finally, I received ZERO comment on the RO for the entire year of owning it. It’s a watch for its owner. Not everyone else!

I’m surprised how close it is between these two. I was thinking about it and I couldn’t decide, though was leaning more on the RO. I agree with the sentiment that it just feels more special. The Daytona is much more well known, but I don’t actually think that’s a good thing.

I do really dislike how I’ve heard a few different instances on the reliability issues with the RO though, which to me is crazy they have reliability issues on a $25k watch that is time/date only in stainless steel. I also agree that the Daytona must be more rugged than the RO, and it is pretty stellar that Rolex is able to get a chronograph in under 12mm.


Still mixed. I don’t have the opportunity to buy either at MSRP right now, though I feel like I could work towards either one and eventually get one. I’m sure you all know it’s quite a bit of work doing that, so eventually wanted to pick one and push on one than trying to work on both.

they are definitely more fragile than rolex but moreso because of the movement. the watch itself feels sturdy and heavier/less flimsy than a steel datejust for example, but it feels more like jewelry so it gives you the vibe that it's more fragile than a rolex. obviously no comparison to a ceramic 6 digit and not a watch you would go play tennis with but still a good daily

Daytona than RO, just two reason
Daytona is easy to exchange to cash
which one u can wear when u falling into water

But overall, I wil say RO is better watch but if only one daily watch, then Daytona
