Why does this happen on 16750's (Matte dials)

Hi all,

I have been browsing some 16750's (matte dial) I've noticed the hour, minute and GMT hand hardly match the hour markers despite never being changed.

Is this normal?

Imagine the lume material of all the hour markers is the same (so they aged together) while the hands are from another batch (perhaps newer than the dial ) so aged differently

Yes, it is pretty normal.

They don't build the watch then paint the lume in. The parts are lumed by the provider and don't use the same mix, and stock sits for some time. Too many variables to expect them to match perfectly. Many of the vintage watches for sale with perfect matches have been manipulated for appearance and are not original.
