Love the silver. Much prefer to the white Roman numerals I had.

Yes, the silver dial (as well as the white dial) is underrated. People nowadays like the colored dials which are cool too, but yes there is something really special about the silver and white dials. They are so clean and will match anything.

While the demand is less for silver and white, they seem to be rarer than the colored dials. I think the blue dial is the most common SS DJ dial color produced. A few ADs and a Grey I have spoken too seem to agree, but no one really knows Rolex production numbers.

I have three colors on my list of options with the AD right now, slate, silver and mint green.

The one that truly exemplifies class, style and exudes timeless beauty is the silver dial as shown in all of the above photos. If have a preference amongst the three it is a tie between silver and slate.

I had a DJ II with the silver dial and it was a great looking low key watch.
If I only had one DJ II I don't know if Id pick silver BUT it's a great choice!
The white, black or silver dial can go with anything you wear! I think the silver is the most low key of all the dials
I see a fair amount of silver dials so I would not say it's underrated.
I think the Wimbledon, Blue and Green dials are more in your face
If I had two DJs Id have one green and one silver or black.

This is a great thread to read while considering silver vs slate for a DJ41. Every time I see a picture of one, I’m like “yep that’s the one I want!” Then I see the other dial and fall in love with it instead.

Guess that means I need both, right? Isn’t that how it works?

The only downside and the reason I prefer a dark coloured dial is that it is difficult to read the time when you have older eyes.

I would take the silver over blue any day. It’s certainly underated in my opinion.
Its classic, monontone and cool as f*^k.

I had a Black dial, Eventually sold it. Wanted a Blue dial and was looking for one when I found this silver dial. Love it ever since. Very classy and goes with anything. My favorite Rolex watch I've ever owned.

Granted it’s a vintage model, but I like how the silver dial warms to an almost champagne color. Especially during the golden hour

The silver dial DJ is gorgeous…especially the fluted/jubilee combo. Timeless classic.

The blue dial is gorgeous as well but the silver or black dials are classier imo.

I think silver and white are the best. A lighter colored dial to match another watch which most likely will be a dark dial like black or grey.

If I had one watch though I’d go black or slate.

No I don’t think it’s underrated.
It makes a monotone watch, some like it and some don’t

I think, that the dislike comes from the aging of the Rolexs silver dials. What I can see is, the silver dial looks "old" in a very short period compared to the eternal life of a Rolex.

So my opinion is, that as a lots of people doesn't like if a perfect silver look changes into a yellow faded, so they better choose the white or the black and so on dials which will have the all the same look after decades.

I think that’s one of the big benefits. I met a guy not long ago in a line for something, and noticed his silver dial DJ. I said, “nice watch” as I showed him my much newer (2023) model of the same configuration. We swapped “why we got them” stories. His was from the 1990s, and the patina on the dial was to die for. The watch had a dash or two extra of class as a result of how the dial was worn. I look forward to my watch having that much character!

I'm not against the look of an old silver dial, I simply mentioned a possible reason why the masses aren't so love it.

Beautiful watches in this thread
My preference is certainly the silver dial, classic, timeless, and amazing.
