Has Rolex ever made a (no date) Submariner in other than black? If so, when?
First off, I understand it's just a Submariner, not a "no date" Submariner. I just wanted clarity in the thread title.
That said, I'm still pretty new to the brand so I certainly lack evolutionary knowledge of the Sub. What I do know is that I don't think I have seen a picture of a Submariner in any color other than black. Ever. I am referring to both the dial and/or bezel. Every time I see a dial and/or bezel in any color other than black, it's always a Sub Date. Has a non all black Sub ever been produced? If so when? I prefer no dates, and would go crazy for a LV or LB Sub. Do you think there is any chance we will see a non all black future Submariner in the future? |

As far as I know the Submariner is the only watch in the entire Rolex lineup that has never had a different coloured dial or bezel other than black. Long may that continue.

I would love to see a white or polar dial on the Sub. Perhaps, legibility under water is an issue with white and, thus, no white dial.

It's funny, when I first started getting into Rolex I would occasionally hear terms like "red" Submariner. I thought that meant that the damn thing was actually red and thought Oh that sounds cool!. Then when I saw a picture of a regular old Sub with a tiny line of red text on the dial I thought, you've gotta be kidding me, THAT'S considered a red Sub??

The Submariner (no date) comes in only one in one configuration . Submariner dates come in many flavors
I like it for that very reason. While some here might call the Submariner Date an icon, I think it’s the Submariner (no date) that gets the moniker for this (and a few other) reasons |

No.
That’s why Sub ND is the purest embodiment of Rolex. Absolute classic beauty. |

Curious whether it was always that bluish hue (and sold as such - specifically different from the black) or whether it was a particular fade pattern attributed to a certain era/batch? |

No date looks cleaner. Would be nice to see more variations.

I prefer the Submariner because of the simplicity and that it only comes in one configuration. I owned the 114060 and flipped it for a 116610LV. I regretted the decision within months, held onto the 116610LV for awhile, and sold it for almost 10k profit a year or so ago. I was able to finance both the 124060 and 126710BLRO and have been extremely content since. The 124060 is the most modern interpretation of the original watch. Nothing wrong with the date and I can understand why people tend to prefer it, but if you're collecting several Rolex sport models, getting the Submariner is a nice, pure expression of the reference when you have the date covered in other models. |

I also like the positive tone you put on the Submariner Date as well. No need to disparage that reference just because you prefer a different model. Others could learn from this type of post Good for you as well on that sale ... you did very well indeed. Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

Same thing as I were to post something like this:
I believe there was a Rolex with a unicorn on the dial in the 1790s. The mother of my sisters boyfriends gardener heard his doctor talking about it. |

"I think I would have heard of such a gold sub" -Osmin Credentials or it didn't happen. Of course, a normal human being might have just said something like, "I've been into subs for X amount of years and I have a pretty extensive knowledge of the different models. I know for a fact that such a watch was never produced from the factory." "Pics or it didn't happen." |

Although many prefer the date option, I’m in total agreement with you as to the better aesthetics. I actually like the fact it doesn’t come in a multitude of configurations though. That’s part of what makes it special imo…just like the Ex1 (minus the Ex1 having a case size option of course).
It’s the OG and I’m happy with the base model |
