The best everyday watch...
Been wearing mostly Subs & SDs as everyday pieces for well over 40 years...
I always wanted a 1016 but felt the 36mm size to small for my generous 8" wrist... So I was delighted when Rolex released the 39mm version. And since it's arrival some two and a half years ago it has become my everyday watch... I still love my Sub & SD but they have taken a backseat to my Explorer when it comes to daily use... There is something about the Explorer that just "works"...!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() And no...I have no interest in the 40mm version... |

I agree, and am wearing mine now. Also, the perfect watch to travel with - not too showy.

The Explorer is a great everyday watch. Mine is the new 40mm version so not exactly the same but close enough.

A great one. I love my 12 sub date as an everyday, but totally get the appeal and reason of the explorer being a great choice.

Not a fan of the 39mm size but we all like different things!

The 39 with the 3132 movement is pretty close to watchmaking perfection.

Having a MK I 39mm, it is a classic. Mine doesn't get a lot of wrist time, but it will stay in the collection. It is my choice if I'm going somewhere I want to be less noticeable - it's understated but classy.

I think that and the Daytona are pretty perfect watches.
I have a 1016 and it's probably my favorite watch, but I'm less girthy in the wrist region. |

I just had the chance to try on the 40 explorer and it just didn’t do it for me.
I need a bezel on my watch to catch the light. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Agree with Explorer but would add a II behind it--Polar ExplorerII!

I agree! Its understated...but at the same time has that amazing matte dial that really pops with the white gold markers....also compliments my speedy EW321 :-)

My 214270 was my first Rolex and is the one in my collection that will never leave.
The simplicity saw me acquire it for my 30th birthday, and I even wore it on my wedding day - so I couldn’t agree more ![]() |

Makes sense to me. A rugged, time only piece that can be worn with anything and anywhere. Seems like a perfect GADA. I'd like to get a 40 someday (or AK).

I love my Explorer I because it's understated and classy. I don't feel like the watch wears me.

I'd have a hard time going from Subs and SDs to an Explorer, but whatever works for you, man. Knowing what you like and enjoy wearing is knowing yourself.
