New to me 80 year old Rolex Oyster Speedking

True Rolex "fans" should look away as this watch was made before 1970.

These little ol' veterans are important to me. This era was really the birth of the Oyster line as we know it today.

I took a gamble on this 4220 working from a couple of really crappy collage pictures of pictures on an online auction. I pieced together all the pictures to determine that the dial was probably fine.

Arrived today and it turns out it was better than fine. Perfect.

Amazing how crazed the crystal is. Eighty years of hard living.

Case is sharp and the crown screws down!

Off for a service and new acrylic crystal for this one.

Here are my other 4220 and 3139 Speedking variants.

Congratulation, nice catch!
Love those Roman numbers, they remind me of a California dial!

Very cool! You have quite an incredible collection Doc and a nice range throughout the years. I very much enjoy seeing these and others that you post in the "Everyday is Vintage Day" thread.

Looks great, and I love syringe hands.

I'd argue that true vintage fans are 1940-70 also btw...with 1952-69 my personal faves ;-)
