Icon2 Daytona 126500LN Video Review

i believe this is the first hands on review of the new daytona i have seen including direct comparison to previous model.

seeing it in video and in motion, it gives off a completely different vibe than pics. imo the white dial is still the one to get .

Good video. Confirms my view that the 116500 is nicer.

Agreed, and have on other threads. The new bezel and thinner subdials appear to reduce the overall balance the white dial 116500 exudes. That said, I feel like the 126500 in black is an incremental improvement and the new bezel is actually complimentary.

Yea, white dial for both will be the most popular but the 11 Daytona is still THE best design looking more purposeful and organic.
I can’t get past the feeling that Rolex made a change for the sake of making a change. Like putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

Modern, vintage, and bulky at the same time. I still can't get used to this look. Maybe the next Daytona will be better.

Yeah, it’s like the dial back to the Zenith, the metal ring back to the 6263 and then they decide to make the case modern, which creates kind of a funny mix in my view.

Also interesting to hear the guy call the new case “boxy”.

Definitely . If anyone was in doubt it's confirmed now the 116500 is the nicer looking model.

Interesting. So far, everyone who reviewed the 126 says they prefer how it looks in person over the older model. I can't wait to see it for myself, but I already love what Rolex did with it.

I prefer the 11 series, but the differences are minimal. How the 12 series fits on the wrist, however, remains to be seen. That was part of the greatness of the 11 series.

Absolutely and the Daytona was one watch for me that surpassed my expectations the longer I owned and wore it. There is a “X factor” to the current 11 series Daytona on the wrist that makes it disappear and effortless to wear. On paper the Daytona should be too small for the size watches I like but in the flesh it’s a friggen masterpiece in form and function.

I have no doubt the 12 series Daytona will retain it Rockstar status as the 11 series has. At this point it’s just a matter of what kind of music does each watch model play that has you holding your lighter up.

The Daytona is my favorite Rolex. This incremental upgrade seems minimal.

Appeal and beauty are instantly recognizable and inherently pleasing the first time you see. Like when I first saw the white 116500 in 2016; it instantly looked wildly good to me.

Less appealing "not as good" things may require an acquired taste, appreciated more over time.

All the comments came from owners of the 11 series …. So makes sense that all love the older vs the newest…..

Dude, the mustache on the Mona Lisa makes so much sense. That outer SS band around the ceramic bezel just bothers me ever so slightly. The 11 is the most awesome Daytona yet.

You have a fair point, it might seem biased because many of us are used to older one, but not really because of that.

I have tried both the black and white versions of the 126500

I own both the black and white versions of the 116500

I really don't like new white. Looks very weak. Too much empty white space disturbed me. If i didn't already have the previous one and had to pick one, i'd still pick 116500 for white 100% unbiased.

But new black is really perfect. I'll change my 116500 black with 126500, white will stay.

Proof that you can't make everyone happy: All I've heard since 2016 is that the dial is too cluttered. Now, after decluttering it, there's disturbingly empty white space.

I leave the Daytonas for the wife, but this 12ref might find it's way into the collection.

there is a conflict of interest. Eric is a grey dealer, he would love to see more people asking for the 12 panda or selling their old panda for a 12 panda.
