Keep my GMT Pepsi Meteorite or trade for Patek Aquanaut 5164a?

Hi everyone. Recently I have been contemplating about trading in my GMT meteorite for a Patek Aquanaut 5164a. If I do the trade, I may even add a Pepsi jubilee just because I like Pepsi so much and at same time would love to have a Patek in my collection.

Would you do the trade? Hope to get some advice from everyone here. Appreciate it!

I wouldn’t. PM plus meteorite > stainless Patek with rubber strap

Yikes.

On paper that sounds awful. Full PM w/ meteorite dial vs SS rubber strap. Doesn’t add up but I still kinda get the trade. But no, I wouldn’t. At least I hope I wouldn’t.

GMT meteorite is going to be in the future like vintage DD stella dials are now. Unique and not common in the sea of Day-Dates. What you have is a one of a kind GMT with a limited production.

Btw, how is the legibility of the time? It looks like it is hard to read due to little contrast between the dial and the hands!

If that’s what you want , go for it . I would never dissuade someone from following their heart , but boy is the Aquanaut ugly .

I'd rather have your meteorite GMT.

TBH I don't think I'd even trade the meteorite for a nautilus. There is a 'special'ness about it that I've rarely found in other watches.

However, if your heart doesn't flutter a bit when you put on that rolex, then by all means find something that will!

Personally, I'd keep the GMT. You got a PM piece with a ultra rare dial which hopefully will only go one way in value. The patek is stainless on a rubber strap..........

I don't particularly think Patek are anything special, I would keep the pepsi.

I loathe smaller size date sub dials so for me it's a hard pass. The meteorite BLRO is one of the beautiful watches on the market.

No way - you'd be nuts. Also, I believe the PP's grey/used value will be on a downward curve for some time yet.

That's a tough one. I'd stay put but if you've gotta have the 5164, I think adding a SS BLRO is a great option.

The aquanaut looks too much like a tire tread that has been flattened. Keep the meteorite, it’s nicer and gold.

Most Rolex enthusiast would not part with such and exclusive watch as the GMT Meteorite. it is an instant eye catcher, only owned by a privileged few and the envy of even those that already own a Pepsi.
Having said that, you are not most people, and one must get and wear whatever puts a smile on your face and makes you happy!. Just make sure that if you go ahead and do it, there will be no remorseful regrets in the future.

All it takes to acquire one is to write a check. He can always get another. Now I agree that you don't seem 'em a lot, because so few are made, but again anyone can have one at their doorstep in 48 hrs.

These 2 watches are SO DIFFERENT . . .

But I can see a case where if the OP really wants an Aquanaut and the only way he can fund it is to sell off the Meteorite, then he should/could do it. Or if he's tired of the Meteorite...and/or maybe he'd be more comfortable banging around in a $10-12K steel GMT than the white gold White Whale?

If you are making a trade with a dealer, probably valuing your watch Wholesale and you are paying a premium for the Patek. Step back and look at this move.
