Silver dial. Looks more balanced. The 12 series sub dials look like they got implants.

I should like the silver dial, as I like a dial/bezel contrast.

But for some reason, I don't.

Hmm, now that I look closer: it might be because the dial of the black is so much lighter than the bezel. If it were gloss black, I wonder would my opinion change.

I prefer the black. Very legible and no contrast with the bezel.

Tried both on and the silver dial takes it for me. Both awesome references though…

Usually not a fan of black dials, but this new one is to die for. The previous silver dial was much nicer than this one for some reason... maybe it's the thinner indices?

Silver by a country mile.

I much prefer lighter dials when on OF. Better contrast.

Silver is more readable and pops more.

Steel dial without even a second thought would be my choice! Definitely stands out more and is a better contrast of colors. You got the black OF straps against the silver color case, the silver color case against the black ceramic bezel, the black ceramic bezel against the silver color dial, then the black subdials popping out against the silver color dial. It all just works out so well for me!

I haven’t really quite thought about it as typically, I just know when I like a watch from the onset and then formulate all of the things I like about after! But these comments I agree with completely. As soon as my AD brought it out, I knew this was the oysterflex Daytona for me. To be fair, I have never seen the black dial and I am certain it is also beautiful. I don’t think you can go wrong but given the choice, I would pick this again every time.

I love the silver … is more elegant and has a nice contrast … respectively the dial is more in front instead of the totalizers

The sunburst effect is much more pronounced on the silver dial, and it has a glow and change of colors you don’t get in the black dial.

I have the 116519LN Sliver dial so maybe a little bias on my front but I think it pops more on the white Gold.

I like the Black dial on the Rose gold better

Both are incredibly gorgeous, slight edge to black dial for me.

Well, I wouldn't kick either one of them out of bed.

But...I do have a personal subjective fondness for the steel dial, so that's what I'll say. But if the black one ever gets offered to me (are you listening, Santa?), I for sure am not turning it down.
