OP, what did you decide as your plan of action? Lots of differing advice thus far.

Lots of different advice, and lots of good advice!!
As Kat said it is a special piece… I’m starting to warm up to it more, every time I pull it out of the box I’m getting a better and better feeling. Also thinking about posters saying it doesn’t need to match the clothes. Its all very enabling… That being said the thoughts of a Sub LV, white dial Datejust, and BLNR sea/land/air trio with green, white and blue seems so perfect.. I do appreciate all the feedback! |

Oh I should say - if I decide to not keep it, this thread has helped me come to the conclusion that I can flip it guilt free, not to involve the AD. I’d probably give it a few months and get back in touch with the AD regarding the Sub LV and pursue other AD’s or grey for the white DJ.

We have all been there and you cant really go wrong here! It is a beautiful piece and if you choose to sell its a Win WIN because you got to enjoy it for a little while then profit on it to buy the next one!

For example this Kat, she is after the same watch so is only trying to reaffirm her own decision by convincing you that it’s special and not to worry about what you can wear it with. A mini hype job to boost the piece. Then from one bad purchase you’ve veered into attempting to rescue yourself by buying three more! Slam on the brakes until you know where you’re going, unless the objective is to drive around aimlessly burning gas as a distraction from something else. |

It is a nice watch for sure, but damn, one has to work their AD just to buy a DJ. What is this world coming to?

I have been a member on here for quite a while and often see your posts. I know you have used your Rolex seadweller 5digit for many hours underwater like it was supposed to be used for and have had it polished back to new on its regular service intervals. I also often see you mention about AD’S just being retail stores selling watches and AD relationships only exist in internet land. I mean this with all due respect but when was the last time you actually tried to buy a Rolex from an AD?? Maybe the last time you bought one was when you could pick a few watches from the display case and choose the one you liked and then they gave you a discount. Nowadays AD relationships do exist as most of us are well aware not sure why you keep writing the same thing everytime when people mention building relationships with the AD. Like I said I don’t mean any disrespect writing this post and like it when you talk about how you have used your watch for its intended purpose but am sure other forum members think the same but just don’t bother saying anything. Yes Rolex watches are just timepieces but they have also now become jewellery items and not really tool watches anymore |

Sounds like you mostly have it figured out at this point. Just echoing what others have said, don’t over think the watch and what it goes with, or settings or scenarios, or any of that. Just wear it and appreciate it as is. If you find you can’t, by all means sell and get what suits you. It’s your watch in the end.
I have the white dialed DJ and Sub LV combo and love it. It’s a great pair of watches!

If it isn’t about underwater working tools with many hours of diving, about polishing said watch and being happy with the results, object £££$$$££££ things, internet land or all his knowledge coming from his brain, you stand no chance! I wonder when he last stepped foot in to an AD, and when he bought his last new Rolex from an AD was? |

At least you're being honest about being caught up in the hype... Fair play.
I think (IMO) this is a better than the white DJ |

OP you’re overthinking this. Sell it. Buy what you want. AD, Rolex or whomever else will never know. Even if they did they wouldn’t care.
Life's too short BTW - Mint DJ41, fluted jubilee is not even remotely a hot model and can be bought under retail easily

Just sell the watch and move on to the watch you want. You’ll make some $ on top. I think you’re overthinking it

Honestly, I’d keep hold of it and appreciate how lovely a watch you have. Clothing wise, I NEVER wear green. However I’ve got the same model as you and a green sub (hulk), and never ever matched them to clothing. I really don’t feel the need. I’ll rock any of my watches with what I’m wearing. If anything, I think matching a watch colour to clothing colour makes me cringe a little…….maybe that’s just me. Enjoy your watch. |

Everyone knows that lots and lots of ADs allocate hot watches based on personal relationships and spend history. Its not even in dispute. Not every sale is like that, but a heck of a lot are! |

But parading out the same one liners, and his naysaying attitude post after post is what annoys people. He talks about relationships with ‘ADs being something that only exists in internet land’, but he comes from a time when he bought his watches before waitlists were a thing. I’ve asked him before when the last time he stepped foot inside an AD to buy a modern Rolex, to which he didn’t answer. It’s a real shame, as the man has an awful lot of knowledge to offer new posters and those learning about Rolex, but he often choses to belittle peoples experiences because they don’t match his own. |

Anyway, only 10 minutes after the opening post, the OP pleaded for people not to “act aloof and above it all when others [himself?] put in effort”, so he sought frank advice. |

Lost in the hype, bought a hot model from AD - buyers remorse - next steps

I am not sure why you would single me out. “This Kat” was merely stating my opinion, and truly trying to be helpful. I have no skin in the game, and certainly need no reinforcement about whether it’s a desirable piece, or not. No agenda here. I buy what I like, without asking others for their advice, before I do so. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I know that the majority of ads are very careful not to sell to Flippers.. When you purchase the watch did you purchase it because you really liked it or did you purchase it because the ad offered it and you didn't want to say no.. If you purchased it because you really liked it why not keep it.. Ultimately it's up to you.

I'd try to return it myself. If you can sell and break even or profit, go for it.
