Gripe with my 126610ln
This is my second bezel, first one had to be replaced by Rolex after it got stuck. I took it to the beach today, went swimming, and again it got stuck. I have submerged in soapy water, rotated, cleaned with a toothbrush etc and it loosened somewhat but again no longer rotates smoothly. Any further tips? Should I leave it in submerged soapy water over night? This watch, at least the bezel play, seems very fragile and the watch simply is not as tough as they say.

Yeah... Waiting to see what someone else says. But the 6 digit sub bezels are smoother than the old ones but not something you can easily clean out. They have 4 spring loaded ball detents that do seem more likely to accumulate grit. The older 5 digits had a simple click spring and the bezel is easily removable. The ceramic bezels should not be removed without the right tools. This is what is going on under the bezel for your watch.

Interesting photo above...the watch looks like an explorer with the bezel popped off.

Anything with a bezel is a terrible beach watch. A few grain of sands can take down the mighty Submariner
No bezel Rolexes are the way to go

This is exactly why I never wear mine to the beach, or in the water. It’s just not safe.

Seems back to normal. I’ll avoid the sand from now on. This watch is tough!

I had this same issue with my Black Bay 58, and I wasn't alone in this. Within 15 minutes of being at the beach, the bezel would be completely locked up. When I'd clean the watch with Dawn dish soap (as I do any other watch I own), it would also lock the bezel up. Sometimes I would run a piece of floss through it to get it to get unstuck.
I sent it back to Rolex in Dallas, and they sent it back almost a month later, stating it should be fixed. It made no difference. I sold the watch a month or two later. A dive watch that I can't even run under the sink without it losing the ability to use a key function lost its luster to me. When I had a 126610 Sub in the past, it never had that issue, so it's disappointing to hear you're having that problem. |

Try to clean out the sand with a piece of floss. Always works for me.

I must say I have never had any issue with sand in my diver bezels, but then again I don't get buried in the sand or roll around in it (like kids usually do.)
OP, your watch got sand in it from just normal activities at the beach??

I never go to the beach but this has dawned on me from time to time & always knew taking a bezel style watch was a no go for anything related to being on or by the beach. Even the crown I would imagine too.

I've spent a lot of time at the beach and in salt water with my 5 digit sub and never had an issue. I wonder if the simpler bezel design is also a tighter fit to the case? I tried to slide a piece of paper under my bezel and it wouldn't fit so most sand certainly wouldn't.

I have worn my 5 digit Sub date to the beach 100s of times on vacation followed by a swim in the hotel pool, a non issue for the most part. I normally just turned the bezel a few times while in the pool and everything is normal. "never wear a Sub at the beach, thats too funny!!"

I wear my 116610 on the beach, swimming in the ocean and occasionally surf with it on. No problems thankfully. Kind of hard to believe you can’t wear a submariner at the beach. I will say that when I briefly had the 12 series sub, I found it uncomfortable to wear while at the beach and snorkeling for whatever reason. I think it was because of the wider bracelet and clasp but obviously ymmv.

Love wearing mine to the beach. Normally the 16610 black sub or ceramic Pepsi.
