VERY tough decision, but to buy and KEEP......It would be the Pepsi for me without hesitation. Gotta be on Jubilee.

And to be fair, I also own both the watches in question. I love em both but it’s all about keeping the catalog in its proper perspective.

Love both and wish not to have to choose between them
GMT better function/ usefulness and better legibility
Daytona is in a diffrent category/class & more aesthetically appealing & more comfort

SS GMT variations
BLRO (oyster / jubilee)
BLNR (oyster / jubilee)
GRNR (oyster / jubilee)
LN (Discontinued)
Coke (My be re introduced)

SS Daytona variations are far less
Black
White

I have both

Pepsi for the win

The daytona would have to be the 116500 for it to be a question

The 126500 looks naked to me

The GMT, my old eyes wouldn't be able to read the time on the Daytona

BLRO on Oyster. For me it's a no brainer as I use the GMT function all the time for flight planning and logging ham radio transmissions.

Vote for the GMT. Screw down pushers have always been a thorn in my side. Congrats on owning both!

Have owned both. And also the Daytona in WG. The chrono for me was too cumbersome and hard to read. I use a chrono function often.

126710 BLRO. I have a strong suspicion this generation of Daytona won't age as well as it's predecessors.

Battle of the SS heavy hitters. Which one would you keep?

Good point. But I would say one thing. The price of entry for these 2 watches is not just the retail price. Most will need to have a six figure spend history to even be considered for one. So in that sense I would definitely consider them heavy hitters as they are mainly saved for the VIP clients. Especially the white Daytona.

Love the Rolex GMT II lineup. Have a bunch. Today I have a 126500 on my wrist. IMHO there is not a more refined/balanced Rolex design than the Daytona. At least on my wrist.

Folks who own the Daytona romanticize it. No one wanted one for years. It wears small and is illegible. I was offered either at retail, and I chose the GMT Pepsi on jubilee. The truth was it was a longer wait than a Daytona. The AD received many more Daytonas that year than BLRO. That is still the situation at some ADs.

Not a fan of chrono's - any chrono's - so the BLRO for me.

Seen many a Daytona in the wild, never spotted a Pepsi.

It's funny when I think about it: these threads always bring out some Daytona haters, but I never read the same animosity for GMTs or Pepsis.

Keep/choose whatever you like!
That’s quite interesting, never really noticed but agree Daytona seems disproportionately more polarizing than GMT/Pepsi despite both their desirability.

My story:
I kept and chose similar to you :) I have two steel Daytonas that will always be staples for me. I was offered the BLRO 3 times from ad…the first two times I passed with the intention hoping that it would go to someone who really wanted it rather than ‘just an extra watch’ for me. That happened and round 2 a buddy of mine got it and still loves it. On round 3 I acquiesced and bought it. I wore it for about 3-4 months. The first few times I liked it, found trivial things to use the bezel as a bean counter since I had no use for real functionality. I thought about making it my exclusive beach or “wear and tear” type watch but I simply prefer my Sub for that. Ultimately sold it, somewhere between msrp and the contemporaneous market price so it left me and the buyer both happy.

My “gmt animosity”:
The bezel colors seemed large and loud, the numbers were too large and in excess. After comparing to a gold Royal oak and even steel Sub, the Pepsi just felt too “cartoonish” for me, and dare I say it, like it was a Seiko skx.

My takeaway:
Like you said perfectly, buy/keep/wear what you like :)
