Welp I went and did a thing. Probably a bad thing since I didn’t see the watch in person. But I’ve always loved it so it is what it is. I’d appreciate some support though, even if you have to fake it.

Congratulations! I am sure it will work out fine. Do you plan to send it back to Geneva for a service? They can probably fix up any minor scruffs. |

I’ll discuss it with the boutique. My inclination is to send it back for service and get it back to patrimony standard. But I don’t know if I should retain the ‘unpolished condition’ patina or if that’s not a thing with Journe. I need some counseling from the mothership.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong. But my understanding is that platinum usually does not get “scratched” and most scratches are just the metal being pushed around so it can be restored with relative ease. Of course, if it is major damage then it may need laser welding. I have seen before/after of some superb laser welding work and it was amazing. |

The factory refurbs don't seem to be noticeable because of the design of the case.

The Calendrier is at the boutique, it’s on a crappy strap and the case as noted has had better days. I’m not even taking delivery of it, it’s going straight to the manufacture for service and polishing, so I’ll see it for the first time in a few months. Still super excited about it, I just love the aesthetic and the complication. :)

Congrats! How long did you wait? Unfortunately not the same luck for me. Hopefully 26, going on year four plus. As someone not local to an AD, it’s incrementally more challenging to continue to show interest. But will keep at it and play the long game. |

If you can choose between a reverse dial (pink salmon dial on a platinum case) or a black label edition for the Optimum or even a Resonance, which one would you pick?
I got this question asked, my initial answer was the Black Label, but come to think about it, the reverse variation seems to be more rare than the black label edition, plus the dial is just more popped. any idea? |

If you access to both, you should get the one appeals to you more. I am biased but BLCO is probably one of the best BL edition. Have you seen it in person? The dial really pops. Rarity should not be in the equation since BL needs application approved by FP. And reverse dial is just something you ask the boutique. |

For the reverse dial, you can just ask the boutique? Already got a confirmation on the salmon/plat optimum. So now have to choose between RQ salmon (which happens to be my favourite) or the BLRQ. Still plenty of time to think about it though. Thanks! PS. Love your Tokyo Boutique Limited Edition that you just got. Do you mind telling how many FP you got from the boutique before you can apply and get and approve for this one? (too late for me anyway i guess) |

At first read, I thought you said all of your other watches are all black label ![]() You can always get the salmon/pt then ask for a grey/RG ![]() |

I just got an allocation for a RQ for 2025, I love the Plat/Salmon combination and at first I chose that combination for the RQ, but I already have an Octa Lune in that combination and felt it would be a little redundant. The salmon dial is less traditional you could say more "edgy" I first saw the RQ in the RG/WG dial combination in a video of Teddy Baldasarre with Laurent Journe and loved it, the RQ will be the top dog in my collection, mostly used for more formal and special occasions, so that combination works perfectly for me. If I didnt have another plat/salmon Journe I definitely would have chosen that combination. But for those reasons and after getting some advice from my SA I decided to go that combination. For that reason I would try to get the BL RQ next. |

I've been wearing the ruthenium version for the past few days. I had forgotten how enjoyable this watch is! Two things to know about the retrograde date that FPJ won't be able to fix. First, the date hand might not line up with the numerals and/or dots. Second, when you use the quickset date feature by turning the crown, the hand might not always spring all the way back to "1" when you reach the end of the month. On my watch the hand sometimes (maybe 30% of the time) gets hung up around 7-9 instead of springing all the way back to "1." It looks totally broken but it's not. I can get the date mechanism to re-engage with some effort. I sent the watch back to FPJ 6-7 times for this same issue until realizing that it's just something I'd have to live with. The workaround I discovered is to just not use the quickset date (crown) on the last day of the month. Instead, when using the quickset date and reaching the last day of the month, I pull out the crown and manually turn the hands forward past midnight. If I advance the date that way, it always springs all the way back to "1" as intended. Hopefully you won't experience any such issues, but if you do, don't be too disappointed. Just accept that you own a beautiful piece of art that functions mechanically as intended most of the time and isn't malfunctioning in a way that you can't fix if you fiddle with it a bit. |

darn, was hoping it might have chagned.
Regardless, congrats on the purchase. Even with the 'idiosyncracies' of the movement described by CFR (i've experienced similar from time to time) its a watch that more than makes up for it. My favorite from their collection. |
