18238 Date/Day Change Question

I had my 1990 18238 serviced by a very well known shop on this forum, LAWW.

I noticed when the watched stopped and I went to set it again by pulling the stem all the way out and turning the actual hands to set the date , the date indicator would turn white and not flip the date until past midnight, and the day of the week gets stuck in the middle of the word, but it does eventually flip and that’s really all I care about is that I wake up and the day of the week and date are correct. I am not going to bring the watch back for a follow up service.

What would cause this issue ?

Also, can someone recommend a place in Los Angeles other than LAWW where I can get this issue fixed, if I want to.

Other than that the watch is running perfectly accurately for time.

That sure sounds more like a single quick 3055 movement the way you described it instead of the 3155 double quick movement.
The 3055 has to be adjusted periodically for what you described.
With your watch being a 18238 it should have the 3155, but I haven’t seen that happen with the 3155.
Interesting, definitely get it checked out.
Btw, I would expect LAWW to be good enough to remedy the issue since they did a service.

LAWW has a glowing reputation, I wouldn't hesitate to ask them. Chris

I'm probably not following the question 100%, but if you are just saying that the day and date don't flip exactly at midnight, there will need to be some adjustments made, including removing and re-installing the hands, etc. It's unfortunate, and a good watchmaker should check this, but you'll need to decide whether it's worth the trouble and risk to have this fixed.

It’s not normal just send it back to them and they will fix it. It’s an easy fix.
