Good morning all,
I recently had my 1984 16013 Datejust serviced with a Full Overhaul at the Pennsylvania RSC (not a usual location - I guess due to its age?), shipped through my local AD. I have few complaints, it runs a stable +5 s/d, handwinds well, crown action feels great. The only thing i've noticed: when the watch goes through its natural date change at 11:59pm-12:00am, the date gets "stuck", with the next day's date half-descended in the date window. If I advance it from the half-advanced position pictured using the quick-set crown position, it'll skip to the next day without issues. (in this image, the prior day was 23rd May, it got stuck on 24th, and turning the crown 1.5 turns in quick-set dropped it to the 25th, squarely in the window without the subsequent date visible in the bottom of the frame) The service work is under RSC's 2 year warranty, but compared to accuracy issues it seems like a pedantic complaint. Am I expecting too much of a 31 year old watch (1 prior owner, in the family) after a $950 overhaul? ![]() |

Often the wheel gets over oiled and drags from this extra friction. Run it through a few cycles and see if that smooths it out.

Have to agree and in 95% of the time this simple fix cures this slight problem.

Thanks, all! I'll give this a shot over the weekend and see if giving it time to move around a bunch resolves it.

The 30×× series (and oysterquartz) have very fiddly date mechanisms and similar issues are common. |
