Thank you Brian. Unfortunately, this Independence Day is very solemn as it appears my dog will have to be leaving us today or very soon after.

I hope every one has a better holiday than I am.

Thanks fellas. I have finally gotten him to eat something and hold it down. Earlier he wasn’t even holding water down.
So possibly crisis averted but definitely touch and go this morning.

Thank y’all for the kind thoughts, they are incredibly appreciated!!

Thanks guys. I cried like a baby yesterday morning. He was even throwing up water. I thought it was the end.

Last ditch effort, I went and bought an lb of deli chicken to see if I could get something in his stomach. It worked!! He has pepped up and ate all of his breakfast this morning (with a little bribing with boars head chicken).

So, as of now, crisis averted and he is still happy, half assed healthy and we are all trying to continue living our best lives.

Thanks again to all for your good vibes and comforting words!!

I'm just reading of this, having no idea your dog was ill. Do you have an idea of the underlying condition?

Well, I think it was a combination of things.

1 - mom was out of town and he always gets finicky when everyone isn’t together and his routine changes.

2 - he skipped a couple meals or ate very little. He has done this the entire time we have had him. It’s like he decides he is going to go on a hunger strike until things go back to normal. The problem is this makes his tummy hurt.

3 - he was throwing up some stomach bile, which he has always done when he doesn’t eat so I didn’t think much of it till 4th of July morning and he was throwing up water. Called every vet around and couldn’t get anyone to come to the house (He had never thrown up just water before this). (He also does not do well on car rides as they severely stress him out).

I finally got him to eat some treats and get something in his stomach and from there he started progressively eating more and now he is back to his normal self. So I think it was a combination of him upsetting his tummy and then maybe a bug or something on top that made it last longer.

Thanks for asking about him!!

Sorry I missed your first post but glad to hear he’s back to normal! Had a similar scare with my older dog about 8 months ago and thought we were losing him. They are definitely part of the family!
