I did not say it was envy...
i did not say it was jalousy...
same for the 2 following questions.

thoses were questions i asked as to what were the reals motives behind the bashing (others might apply also)
some here assimilated bashing with freely expressing opinions which in my opinion is wrong based on this definition

OK, I'll bite and have a stab at this.

Dan, the OP asked a question as to what the reason was for the negativity, and proceeded to speculate whether it was envy, jealously, etc. This is part of a question. Asking a question as to what someone's motivations might be is not the same as simply saying that anyone who doesn't like the DSSD is jealous or envious.

I'm sure you can distinguish between someone asking "why do people bash the DSSD? Is it because they're jealous?" and those posts which simply say "the DSSD is disgusting" or "only ignorant show-offs wear them".

I really don't have a dog in this fight, as I really don't need the forum's members to validate my choices. I like what I like. This is simply a genuine attempt to answer your question.

Wow. This thread picked up some steam.

I tried on the DSSD and although I wasn't bothered by the case width I did think it was way too thick. It wore very much like my Breitling - high and heavy on the wrist. A very nice watch but not my cup of tea.

My thoughts exactly. I loved just about every aspect on the watch, except the enormous thickness and the way it sat real HIGH on the wrist.

I guess someone with a very large 8"~8½" wrist would carry it off BEST!

Just my 2 cents.

Wow how much longer can this go on, surely everyones entitled to an opinion and just because it's not the same as yours about a particular watch does not mean they hate it or are bashing just having an opinion. We can't all like the same things in life and that goes for everything from clothes to cars to food, if you like the watch then surely that is all the matters. on their wrists to actually experience it. Comment like "the the stupid rehault ring with writing on it" makes me laugh my butt

off . The light silver color ring besides giving the watch a smaller impression (smart design by Rolex) than the 43mm actual size , it is actually

functional. In murky waters or not well lighted rooms where the darkness isn't enough for the loom to work, the ring actually enhances the readability of the markers.

Enjoy your DSSD,and wear it in the best of health my friend. Don't worry about what people say. Show me yours, here's mine:

I pay no attention to the naysayers. When I first bought my YM I got flamed so much I had to wear a flack jacket. I just kept posting pics and eventually another popped up and another. If you like it that is what matters.

It is not really fair to compare a platinum/ss watch to an all ss watch IMHO. But you can borrow this it may help. LOL =) maverick
