Educate me please !!!

My question is, on the old submariners (1980's) is the serial number anywerelse on the watch, other than between the lugs at the 6 o'clock position.I know on the newer models its visible on the inner ring, through the crystal.I was asked this today, but couldn't give an honest answer as I don't know.Thank you in advance

inner ring (rehaut) RolexRolexRolex serial RolexRolex started late in 2007.. I believe it was Late Z models and then M and V have it.

They started with the engraved rehaut or inner ring on M--somewhere early in the run --as the earliest M's do not have engraved rehaut--a small number of them that is--I have one without and it is an M. On some other models it started on Z's.

The serial #s will always be between the '6' lugs, new or old!

Nowhere else other than on the certificate. Other than that the case number is at 12 o' clock.

For those without the rehaut engraving, it's between the lugs at 6 o'clock. That's it!

I think it is great Rolex is putting the serial number in the rehaut, it makes it easier to see the serial number than before, having to remove the band.

However I still like my vintage Rolex watches.
