I think all these Basel news just made Vintages more desirable. I really have no intentions of getting any of the 2010 Rolex lineup..

The MC on the other hand what a beautiful piece that is..!!!

THANK GOODNESS I'm still infatuated with my 16610 M that I bought last month and not drooling over the new ones!

WIS have been clamoring for a SS Blue Sub.. Well, it isn't blue, but is a very popular green, if the last iteration of the LV is any indication.. Tis one should prove very popular... and it's not the high price all gold or TT version..

WIS ladies have been saying the ladies DJ is out of date...at 31mm, it is the same size as the mid-size mens/unisex.. Should be very popular this Christmas..

WIS have been looking forward to the release of the SS SUB ceramic.. well, it's here...... I can hear the footsteps and see the dust as Rolex fans line up for this one...... It will be twice as popular as the GMT IIc.

And we haven't even seen the many dial combinations that may appear once Basel actually opens.......

What more did you expect.....
Agree 100%. I have a feeling that the new green ceramic Sub might prove to be another Deepsea in that pictures may not do it sufficient justice and that once it hits the stores and more people see it in the flesh, its popularity will rise. For sure I'm reserving judgement on this one until I see it for real; for now, I'm very happy that the Exp has been upsized to 39mm!

Overall, I'd say Rolex's 2010 Basel offerings are attractive and within expectations - as well as being tantalising enough to keep everyone guessing what might be in store in future years.

Agree with you, how many watches can be made from one case, several movements? How much profit can Rolex make off the people?

Newbie Question

At the beginning stage, will the price be as high as GMTII Ceramic when it was first launched to the market?

With all respect

Look, this year was much better than last, where we got the DJII.

The new Explorer is nice, but for the extremely short hands. Also, a matt dial and curved crystal would be perfect. It's not like Rolex can't do this, the DSSD has matt dial and curved crystal. Close yet so far.

The black SS SubC will sell like hotcakes, don't you worry for Rolex. Cheers,

I think it started out at $5950, then $6850, currently $7000...me thinks.

Well said.

The new Sub C looks awesome, and i think the green bezel/dial will definitely turn some heads. The 39mm Exp=pure awesomeness. TT 31mm now will full diamond bezel...I wonder if the steel 31's will have one too...didn't see any pics in the press-kit. Looks like Rolex is keeping the ExpII white/Orange arrow as their big surprise...I have yet to see a live pic of this one.

Cool Beans.

I'm with ya mate on this one.

I wanted something a bit more radical than an upgrade

A whole new watch, or a complete overhaul...something like that was more what I was hoping for. When they made the DSSD that impressed me because it was a completely new take on the original deep sea.

Don't get me wrong I like the new ceramic cubs a lot, especially the green, but so far I have had a "is that it feeling". The new Exp II, putting an orange hand on there really isn't a massive deal for me.

To quote Eddie Izzard I wanted a watch that could turn into a hamster at the touch of a button

Many of us have been waiting for that for years....hopefully Rolex will figure out how to two-tone the ceramic so that we can have a red-blue and burgundy-black bezel again. Too bad they couldn't use texture to simulate light and dark, like the Seiko Prospex Flightmaster. By texturing or pebbling the ceramic, you can have one colour that appears to have a "light" and a "dark" side for am and pm demarcation, even though the substrate is all the same colour.

If Rolex does this, I expect a percentage!

Agreed

I agree with you Greg,, I hate the new GREEEN Sub,, I don't like the new 39mm Expy (It doesn't look ROLEX !) ... But the only winner is the Expected and Respected the new SS SUB C !
...And thanks God Rolex listened to us and they made it in an all brushed bracelet.

I am also not overly impressed with changes, but Rolex is not exactly known for their ability to make drastic changes... Some other people noted this, but I would love to see the all blue sub in stainless!

Any pricing on the Sub yet? Having seen a 2 tone GMT and a 2 tone ceramic sub in the window of an AD recently I wondered why the sub was about £300 more than the GMT?

Agreed this is an absolte borefest, nothing to see at the rolex stand for sure - move along!

my personal opinion: i dont like what Rolex did in Basel. for me the biggest mistake whas the sub green dial. way to green. it looks sick. green is not my favorite color anyway.

maybe others will agree, others wont but i guess ill stick with the aftermarket 16610

Well, even if Rolex disappoints at every Basel show, they still manage to sell virtually every watch they make.

Personally, I have no expectations for anyone regarding product lines. If they make what I like, then they have a potential customer. If they don't make what I like, I buy something else.

I'm surprised by the responses here. Rolex has the reputation it has because they are slow to change. They have no need to create any sort of "wow" factor year-to-year, and in fact doing so would make them seem "trendy," which is not the brand image they've created.

Having said that, I think that Basel this year was downright shocking given the aforementioned standards. A green dial on a Sub? A 39mm Explorer? No one saw either of those coming.

newbie perspective

I've only been following the forum since last summer, so this is
my first year watching the buildup/letdown related to Basel. It's
certainly a lot of fun to watch the buildup to the big day, the
speculation, leaks, partial sightings, etc.

Overall, I'm just happy to be watching it all unfold. Maybe
Basel was a snooze, but the forum has been fun these last
few days!!!

And for the record; like the new SS Sub LN; don't like the LV;
no feelings either way for ExplorerI (or possible ExplorerII).

I think the new all green sub would be great with a gold case/bracelet, but the stainless isn't doing it for me. If they wanted to add another stainless one, they should have done the blue.

Agree, I think both the Sub and Exp are fantastic. I think the LV Sub is stunning.

In keeping with current Rolex design concepts, they should have glued some emeralds to the new GREEN Sub......Why not REALLY make it green for an even wider appeal?.LOL

For me, the true test of any product launch is whether I feel the need to rush out and buy it. Rolex didn't do that for me this year. Tudor did.

I agree, the brand is slow to change and they are immensely successful as they create classics more often than not. The ceramic Sub is nice. The green Sub, to me, is not something I would buy at half the price.

I am waiting for a Pepsi GMT IIC.

Larger explorer is a plus. I have to compare the dial side by side to decide.
