Patek Aquanaut or GMT2C

I recently saw a patek aquanaut and fell inlove with it! What are peoples thoughts in choosing the patek or the rolex gmt2c for everyday wear with a PAM112.

Isn't the Patek twice the price of the S/S GMT IIc? So strictly speaking, the comparison isn't really fair....Still, for daily wear, I vote for the GMT! Although the Patek is nice, I think you get a more solid allrounder with the GMT IIc.

If dollars aren't an issue I will go for the PP 5167 but yes for a new one you're looking to spend about $16500 and that is 3X the Ceramic so not sure what to tell you but both are great watches...
As far as the Panerai...not on my list with all the respect to all the others

Cant compare the 2. The GMT is more robust but the Patek is a more refined piece...going for robust, two time zone tool watch or a refined stainless "sports" watch?

I did just see it today on a friend, thats why i am so fascinated! You can actually find one in decent shape for 8-10k....so only 2-4ish over a GMT. However, this would not be an event within the near future...more of just thoughts wondering....

There is a thread on another popular watch forum where a guy was using that Model Patek as his one and only beater. There were some pics showing some scratces and dents. Was used for water sports as well. He certainly made owning The One an intriguing read Hope you can find the thread.

If you don't already own a Rolex, you should get one - they are great watches. However, that PP...

Not a huge fan of Patek except for there watches with complications there none can compare. But in there simple watches I would take Rolex every time quality around the same, only difference is the price and the Patek name.

The PP doesn't do much for me, but looking at your signature it seems you've already made a decision i.e. the GMT?

Cheers

the PP is nice, no doubt, but, PP, to me, is not a "sports watch" brand, so, i'd have to go GMT2C.

The PP would be fine for ever day wear. I would rather have the GMT.

Like a response you would find on a Seiko forum comparing a Seiko to a Rolex

I do not think that PP watches look that good, looking like an ordinary Fossil type watch, but there again, that is me. Do not think Panerai watches look that good either. So it's a GMT every (Rolex) time.

Definately not just speaking the truth as I find it. and myself can respect all mechanical watches from a Alpha to Rolex to Patek to Seiko.

For some reason the only Patek that sings to me are their traditional lines... simple watch head on a leather band. If the choice is up to me.... I would go with the GMT2C in this case...

Not even considering the price difference, the Rolex styling appeals more to me than Patek. Of course the Patek is a quality watch but I just like Rolex better visually.

I don't think so. Finishing of Patek is a LOT better than Rolex (if we can call it's "finishing" for Rolex).
