Not to happy with Rolex products right now...

Well I bought my SD about 1.5 yrs ago and the wifes DJ this last fall and BOTH need to go in for service already.....Mine gains about 10-15 mins every 2 weeks and hers just stops about 2 times a month...We both never take them off so it's not a winding problem on our end......So they go to Dallas this week...I'm not looking foward to the 6 week wait to get them back!

At least they're still under warranty.......Rolex will fix them. Make sure you include a letter detailing problems, how long you've owned them...your concern that they are acting this way as you bought them new & have only had them a short while.

Is the warranty then extended for an additional two years like when one sends in an older watch for servicing, or does the original purchase date still dictate the warranty period?

Good question I don't know...Would be nice if it did...My AD told me to bring the watches and the cards in and he would write the letter for me on both of them describing what's up with both watches.....

It's a repair under warranty...I doubt if Rolex will extend warranty.

When you buy a Rolex, you buy a brand, not a watch.

There are plenty of more practical alternatives out there but none offer the unique Rolex experience.

I see the logic of that, definitely. But, I also see the logic of Rolex standing behind their warranty repairs like how they do behind their servicing of watches. At the very least, the part that was faulty should be afforded extended protection.

You are also getting a very, very high quality watch, not just a brand name. Sometimes even Ferrari's. Rolls Royce's and Rolex's need an adjustment or repair.

My opinion:
Maybe this is why I admire the vintage Rolex watches, they are excellent.

Just a thought, but if you watch is gaining that much, might it be magnetized?

I've owned a number of Rolex watches over the years and they have been consistently the most reliable.

I distinctly remember receiving a watch the last time I bought a Rolex.

To the OP: I'm also wondering whether your watches have been magnetized.

Agreed!

I had trouble with my month old sub and the service Rolex gave me was very poor to say the least.

That really is horrible Roy. I hope it's all resolved when you get the watches back.

What are the odds of two issues?? Well, I can tell you my 12 year old Serti Submariner has never been serviced yet and it still keeps +3 seconds a day like it did when new. I am a firm believer of only fixing a watch when its broken.

My watch has gained time ever since I have owned it from new out of the box. I figured I would let it "break in" to see if it quit.....It hasn't as of yet and this close to being out of warranty I want to get it in there before it's up.
Now the wifes just quiting......I don't think thats good at all. I can live with the time gain...but quiting is another issue....I figured if I sent them both in, neither one of us would look at the others wrist and go WHERES MY WATCH!

I am sorry to hear of your troubles... I have had issues with Rolex in the past too... Very disturbing I agree but like another said, everything made has problems at some point and there is no such thing as perfection... I know nit doesnt make it any easier though.

Good Luck, let us know what happens.

My thought too. Rolex has pretty good standards. You might be placing your watch next to something. I keep mine away from all electronics, etc.

I've heard an iPhone can magnetize a watch.

I concur that it doesn't sound good that both relatively new watches need a service. My Yachtmaster was about 6 1/2 years old when I sent it to the RSC for service. There was nothing wrong with it, but I had been wearing it daily, and didn't baby the watch...wore it swimming in the ocean, pool, etc. I think if you send the RSC a letter detailing the time-keeping problems with each timepiece (with specificity), then the problems will be in their computer system, and if the problems recur within a fairly short period of time, you would have an easier time persuading Rolex to take care of any subsequent service for no cost. Let's just hope that one trip to the RSC will take care of the issues.

Curious...I presume the RSC technicians would be able to diagnose whether the watches have been adversely affected by electromagnetic fields, etc. Let us know what they say.

Sorry to hear about your problems Roy. I agree with the post that mentioned keeping a "paper trail" on the date, the service, the problem, etc. Then, if the problem reoccurs, I'll bet your AD will work with you getting it resolved again even if the warranty period has expired.

I've never had a negative experience like this and I hope yours gets resolved quickly and correctly!

It's NEVER been 6 weeks, like 3-4 weeks, I've had two of mine serviced there. It won't be 6 weeks. I promise, and they do great work.
