I got a new one, and it may surprise you!
I wanted something low key for small town UK, so I went with the Molex favourite :)
Sorry for the crap pic. I've always loved the dial on the Explorer, but until I wore a DJ for a few days, I thought it was too small for me. I was wrong, and I love it! |

Thank you Daren! I looked at a few, including the SD (which I liked this time), but I went in specifically for this one. I think I can wear it anywhere, under any circumstance and feel comfortable. And, like you said, it's a classic Rolex

How does it wear compared to a Sub? I think those look sooooooo gooood Bruce. It is the Rolex version of a BASE.

Well, very light and small! Yeah it is kind of the base equivalent I guess. It's very easy to read and I like that. You sure don't have to have LARGE for ease of reading!

Well, you could of gotten a SS/PLT YM for ease of readability.
Which is what I am wearing again today.

LOL, but I said LOW key mate The Explorer is light, but not too light, if you know what I mean. Not that Subs are heavy after wearing Panerai!

I also dinged it already too (day 6 of ownership, hit a door got a 1mm ding on the bezel) but at least thats out of the way and I wont have to worry about keeping it perfect. Its honestly a great feeling to know that it isnt perfect anymore, it was gonna happen sooner or later. |

Ouch! You're right though, it's gonna happen and these are less protected than the subs/gmts. I figure this is my wear everyday, do anything watch so it's gonna get beat up. The first one still hurts though!

Bruce, GREAT choice! Ain't it funny, everyone wonders if the explorer is really a great watch, but when they actually wear it for a while... they *know* it's a great watch. Congrats!
BTW, you make the right choice in going into it with the attitude of "This is my everyday watch, it's going to get marked up". I tried to keep mine "nice" for a little bit, but I only really started to enjoy it when I quit worrying about it and treated it like what it is: A tough watch designed to be used and enjoyed, not pampered and polished. It's one of the Explorer's many subtle charms.

I like your attitude Bruce, you don't have to try to thrash it, but it will happen for sure.

Thanks John! Yep, I love this lil guy. May be smaller, but no less mighty Gotta tell ya, I'm loving this size. Just so comfortable. I still have my big ones for when I'm feeling the need for size!
And Daren, you're right. The dings are inevitable, unless you just never wear it. |
